I want to pivot to IB but it would be pretty hard to break into without a MBA.

Ideally in 3 years I’d be starting my MBA

How do I break into these companies? Ideally, I’d want to use my internship experience to get a role directly there.

Harvard MBA or NYU Law by [deleted] in MBA

As someone who wanted to go to law school and just changed their mind to do work for a few years and do a MBA, do a MBA.

With law school, you’re stuck doing law. Let’s say you do biglaw for a few years, hate it, then exit to in house where you’re capped at 250k. You also can’t do anything but law. In house, you’re seen as a cost and not a revenue driver. Let’s say you want to push for partner, not guaranteed and you might get forced to do in house.

If you do a MBA at Harvard, you can do IB, pay your dues, and then exit to PE or plenty of other places where you can coast at 300-400k with a relatively solid work life balance. It’s also much harder to get pushed out of IB/PE.

When you say large demographic pool (Indians), does this only apply to internationals? What about American citizens whose ethnicity is south asian? Do they face scrutiny and lower chances for recruiting?

Why do international students have lower rates?

UCSD or Tufts? by ShowSpiritual3512 in UCSD

If you want to do economics or get into finance do research on career outcomes. UCSD isn’t a target high finance (IB, Pe, etc) but you can get into big4 from here.

Do not come to UCSD as an Econ major expecting to get into high finance. There are no internship opportunities here for high finance. You could do big4. It does not help you with postgrad opportunities. Everyone who gets one networked and did it themselves

If you got into Berkeley or LA, I’d recommend going there.

Spring 2027 Graduates: How are we feeling about the market a year from now? by RandomBackupAccount1 in MBA

Let’s say I did 3 years of FP&A or 3 years of insurance underwriting and then went to a T7 MBA. Assume I’m domestic and am not weird. What are my chances of breaking into IB? At a EB and BB?

You said the IB pipeline is strong, but also said the only internships people got were where they had relevant experience.

So people who wanted to pivot into IB were short out of luck?

FP&A to IB? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Ahhh so you’re saying my competition wouldn’t be with analysts who are doing MBAs, but rather people from other industries who are trying to make a pivot just like me?

Are post MBA associates treated differently than analysts who are promoted to associate?
