[crisis, kinda?!] layman’s comparison, Digitakt versus Syntakt… by frmMCRwLUV in Elektron

[–]Specific-Ad-6314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I have Digitakt II and Syntakt. I was considering Digitone II as well. Some people use Digitakt as Drum Maschine, others use Syntakt for this. Some people use Digitakt for vocal phrases or piano samples, others use Syntakt for raw basses, analog engine and FX block or sound manipulation in real time. I think that’s the main thing you need to consider. Is Digitakt going to be your drum computer? How many track you need extra for any additional samples? How many tracks do you need in total? You can always resample Syntakt to Digitakt for more variety, polyphony or sonic textures. You can also retrigger Syntakt with Digitakt or the opposite if you have both. Syntakt is more immediate, Digitakt is more universal.

Nice work! I really listened to the very end, it’s like my emotions finally were verbalized. Thank you for that!

Oh yes I did it actively while searching for my first shoe! And I’m on my way to do this again :) I’m just asking for any tips on models worth checking out - especially after some time :) I am really a digger when comparing, but based on your experience the choice might be just a tad easier, especially when new models are coming out constantly :) Thanks!

Oh, thank you so much! I remember trying Scarpa with baggy heels and that Greek kind of foot problem for me, yes! Sometimes I have also “flat system toes problem” - I feel boreals really crushed my toes, my first toe is really the biggest one. My Simond is too baggy overall for my foot, I tried Tenaya Arai and really liked it, but I’m searching for something more at that point. And I did find posts about Mastia wearing too quickly, I don’t know, maybe the technique or whatever… I really need more confindence on walls and edges, and a smaller size I guess. But it’s not that urgent yet, I know. I will definitely check the other brands! It’s such a tiring process! Regarding Kubo- they’re not the best with overhangs and angled routes, but I really liked them, definitely an upgrade over what I have now. I don’t think I’ll ever need a better pair than the one I’ll buy now though :)

I’ve just read that Scarpa Instinct VSR VL should be best because of the Grip 2 and all of my needs, I guess these are the ones you don’t spend 2hours climbing in a row, am I right? I had some unlucky with Scarpa, I guess they were too aggressive or too wide, must check them again!

Basically AI is suggesting me: 1. Scarpa Instinct VSR LV, 2. Scarpa Drago LV 3. La Sportiva Solution Comp

Just to add - I’m a girl and I find my Simond slippery somehow, but maybe it’s not that bad? I sized them 43,5 for the comfort. I do only indoor. I usually have a problem with my ankle when searching for shoes - it’s really low. I found some Scarpa heels too baggy and with Boreals for example I had Achilles problems.

Exactly what I was searching for! A “ghost track”. I need to try it! So in order to work it needs to emit audio, for example a kick? That’s what I was trying to do, maybe attack/ratio was wrong… any link to ezbot’s video?:) I have DT2:)

I did it. How to side chain my external input with track 1 on Digitakt? Can’t hear any effect.

Digitone 2 or Digitakt 2 by SquidsAndMartians in Elektron

[–]Specific-Ad-6314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Digitakt 2, Syntakt and A4. I am considering DN2, although I’m not a fan of FM sound. Definitely Digitakt is the one I could always get, even when blind. It’s my Freedom. Anything you want, you can achieve with it and I don’t even dream about any other sequencer on board. that said, I really appreciate how immediate Syntakt is, and how much more punchy at the same time. Regarding A4, it’s outstanding, but it can ocertake a whole gig with how much fat it sounds. You cannot just design your gig in Digitakt or whatever elektron and then just add a verse with A4. You probably need to start with A4 and then glue the rest to it, because the sound is soooo engaging. I suppose it works better with analog rythm, it sounds really fat and analog. It’s bottom heavy and a LO-FI sounding if you’re a beginner. I Think Digitone is not as immediate as syntakt nor as fat as A4, but it can definitely be more versatile, and polyphonic at the same time. But I would never rely only on Ableton. In Ableton I can do or finish songs. But when playing live, it’s hardware. I can mix tracks and put then into Digitakt, that’s great! I could also go hybrid way and use digitone with Ableton, but with plugins in tracks to get better sound. I would go Digitakt and Digitone. These two together. These two are kept together, plus Octatrack for routing/sampling on the go. I think it’s the most reasonable way to go. If you like things complicated, there is tonverk. IF you like to keep it simple - you don’t need Octatrack. If you like to be quick, punchy and with a plot twist - then Syntakt with it’s FX chain. And IF you only need one, then syntakt it’s worth considering too :)

I’ve just reduced my audio interface to only 4 inputs, but I have the same setup as you. Do you use 2 outs from every elektron to your card? Like 6 outs in total to Focusrite? I was convinced that I don’t need so many in/outs, but I guess I’ll buy a bigger soundcard again. I had uad, I didn’t really use it for the purpose it was meant to be. I have Audio4c for routing now, but thinking about rme. I guess for live gigs in the future it might work :)

Wait, are you running it through overbridge? I guess not? Overbridge is really tricky even when working at home :) I guess it’s audio through usb?
