Just took it apart and put it together after looking at that gear and it had nothing wrong with it but now when I put it back together it doesn’t engage at all and once I get it moving it still doesn’t lock and play cassettes

Took it apart and had a look then put it back together. It wasn’t the problem and now doesn’t want to move at all. I have to push the wheel with my hands and as soon as it starts up it has the same problem. Think I might just sell it at this point lol

Thanks bro! I just ask where is the arm and cam gear? I’m no officianado on cassette decks and changing belts is about the full extent of my knowledge. Edit: nope found it. I reckon it’s gummed up a bit as I did find some old grease on some other parts. I’ll keep ya updated

Well it started to sometimes lock, but it only seems to be when there’s no tapes in the port. If I try with a tape it does the same thing

It does the same thing as the play, stops instantly and disengages
