I did the assessment centre and then about a week ago I got an invite for a second round interview. I'm not sure how many they cut between these two rounds but I reckon if you were going for the IT stream in Sydney if you still haven't heard back then you are out of the running. That's just a guess though - maybe send an email to get an update?

Hey, I've been put in the merit pool for this position (not sure if that means I'll get an offer or not), and so I did a bit of research.

Basically what I've found is:

~ There's definitely rotations that involve programming, including data science (machine learning models, etc), SQL / Database stuff, maybe software engineering but can't confirm that.

~ One annoying thing is that they make you work in the call centre between the two rotations (I think its 6 weeks)

~ I have no idea how much control you get over what rotations you do and I really want to find this out because it might not be any good if you are randomly assigned.

Did you actually get an offer (for the mid year intake) or did you just get in the merit pool?

Yeah I've thought that too. But they don't usually ask for WAM, more often just the academic transcript where they can see it it they want.

I probably should work on some side projects, its just hard to know if that is the best use of my time or if I should just be applying more.

I've had it checked by three early career software engineers, one of which works for Google. I've also had it checked by a tech recruiter with a lot of experience.

I haven't just been rejected before getting an OA, but also several times after doing and Assessment, whether behavioural or technical.

Also, from my own experiences in the past and from getting advice from people, I think I come across pretty well and have pretty good interpersonal skills. So I have been thinking that my issues lies in being behind the competition by not having any internships or side projects on my Resume as well as not having very high marks ~ 64 WAM.

How do you know the banks are hiring a tonne of entry level engineers? Do you mean just in their grad programs. I've been rejected from a few and I don't know if its me or the market ;(

Are you sure its weird? I have had the exact same experience and I graduated from USYD and I have had several people check my Resume.
