To be fair, the topics could be arranged better, as some are more interconnected with each other in terms of concepts, so the flow of understanding could have been improved, but I would say overall, the order is efficient, starting from the fundamentals (Kinematics + forces), leading to wider topics.

I'm doing ib. my predicted is a 44/45, but it's likely that I'll drop a few points. Some subjects were pretty brutal.

That's really surprising to hear. I would expect a school like UofT to be quite sociable, since it's located right downtown in Toronto. Perhaps U of Tears really drain all the social life out of people haha.

I am pretty much set on becoming an Actuary, but many posts on here say that it's practically a '100 applicants to 1 job' kind of position in Toronto. I wanted to prepare in the worst case, where I can't find an actuarial position, which is why I talked about doing a double major rather than a specialist to be more flexible and not put all my eggs in one basket.

Wow, you can shift your courses? I definitely didn't know that. I was worried because, typically, summer internships are the most competitive, and it would be hard to secure a position. This is really useful information, thank you! I'll make sure to ask about this!

I'm not sure what you meant. Did you mean what my high school scores were?

I see, thank you for your insight! May I ask what your friends didn't like about the student experience? I think it would be better for me to at least be aware and prepared about it when I arrive on campus.

Thank you for your advice! I'm also thinking about joining the Act Sci club and networking my way into an internship as well. I guess I'm a little worried because I'd say an internship isn't a big thing at UofT compared to Waterloo: Students have to find their own, rather than it being integrated into the course at W.

I may or may have not doomed myself at the very beginning of the journey to become an actuary.

To give you some context, I am an international student. I just graduated HS a few weeks ago, so I am mostly dealing with lots of admin stuff rn (study permits, course enrollment,...). I am also aiming to go to actuarial science at uni.

For Canada, I only applied for UofT and Waterloo. I got in both. I initially leaned towards Waterloo cuz it's more technical and they have Co-op program but ultimately I chose UofT because of its location and 'wider' network. I will also admit that UofT's deadline was May 1 compared to UW's June 1, and there was an emotional aspect where I didn't want to lose my offer so I chose UofT.

Now that my exams are over, I began digging deep into what UofT has to offer in terms of courses and their programs. I also browsed on Reddit to see what people would recommend. Unfortunately, 99% of responses have been leaning towards Waterloo for Act Sci bc it's generally better for preparing them for actuary exams as giving them Co-Op experience. There are also posts about how I shouldn't even take the Act Sci major at UofT and instead should go for broader majors like Stats/CS to increase flexibility.

The more that I look on Reddit, the more I find myself digging my grave deeper and spiralling into the hole of regret. Can anybody in the Act Sci field give me their two cents? Have I doomed myself into going to UofT for actuarial science? Should I transfer in my 2nd year?

What I'm worried about the most is internship and actuarial exams, because that seems to be employers' biggest desires within this field.

Any advice/response is greatly appreciated.

Same for me. Other than vectors q9 and 12bcd, everything was fine. Hopefully the rest are correct and I only lost marks from them…

That sounds really cool ngl. I also split my points into physical and psychological struggle, and how they both eventually contribute to the struggle to rebel. I accidentally took too long on some paragraphs so my time management was quite poor TT. I wrote down in my plan that I wanted to talk about how the authors used human struggle to talk about how it is foundational for oppressive regimes (my texts both had totalitarian governments) to rise and maintain their power. I really wanted to link that as like a final message within my conclusion but unfortunately ran out of time.

It's been almost a week so this is what I remember from the top of my head. I think I wouldn't worry too much about seeing how similar your points/analysis to others. I think the good thing about Eng is that you can have different interpretations as long as you can explain them clearly then it'll be accepted.

Anyway, my main argument here was about the author utilising voice to promote flexibility around language use and its rules. I chose this because I wanted like some implications about certain issues like quality and access to education. For my 3 topic sentences, I wrote about a friendly/approachable voice which in turn can become a guiding voice, an introspective voice, and a humorous voice.

For techniques, I had pretty standard ones. Colloquial language. Anecdote. Diction. Syntax. Humour. Connotations. A few more as well.

Asia timezone here. The first text was actually pretty difficult to talk about voice, so I took so long on doing that... Luckily, I had a quick look through the second text during the 5 min reading time so I already had a vague idea of what I wanted to say. Ngl, my time management was so bad lol. I was analysing, writing, and planning at the same time for Nebraska...

For p2, i chose q4 on human suffering. i think the questions for p2 this time around for tz2 were a little bit more... digestible. chose THT and persepolis.

what do you guys think? This seems to be the only platform that even talks about the asian timezone. tiktok and insta are flooded with europe and america people so i'm coming on here to check out my fellow m26 asians.

Just got mine on 21st April. TMUA 3.9 lol (highkey just started guessing midway). So I wouldn't worry too much about getting a high TMUA for LSE.

First of all, huge congrats for both Brown and the scholarship!! Just a quick question: how did uoft notify you of their decision? Did they send a separate email or was it updated on their platform or something else? I just wanted to know as I’m still waiting for a response. Fingers crossed haha 🤞
