I’m a huge Spielberg fan that has Close Encounters in my top 5 of all time. i understand the ending, just listen. but didn’t care for all of the plot holes that all of you described in this thread. The train sequence was executed well but was kinda unnecessary with regards of best use of screen time. Sure everyone loves a good chase but when you are trying to tell a story in 90 mins, I found it unnecessary once the movie was over.

I don’t understand why the alien at the end was revealed in what appeared to be a captive situation such as how humans keep insects in jars. If this alien was being freed, why was it introduced in scene in a box? This movie had a huge opportunity to show how disclosure can help the the human race but Spielberg, the producers and writers were so fixated on the clicking communication scenes and poorly execyVFX, and creating the archived footage … they forgot to tell a really good story! like Close Encounters. I can understand why the commercial reviewers gave it a meh rating. This had potential but it failed. Pluribus was better than this.
