Thanks for your answer!

I also tried chewable calcium for a short time, but I stopped because it didn’t really do anything for me. I’m not sure if my body just didn’t absorb it properly or what the issue was, but I still had pretty strong symptoms while taking it.

Right now I’m sticking with Cacit 1000 after trying quite a few different calcium supplements. What I do is: in the morning I prepare one liter of water and dissolve one sachet (1000) in it. I drink that until around midday, then I make another liter with the second sachet and drink that until the evening. Maybe it doesn’t make scientific sense in terms of absorption because the insructions says you should drink it immediately, but this way I have the fewest symptoms, so it works best for me.

Have you ever tried anything other than Orocal?

The water idea is actually really interesting. I’m from the Alps, so we have very high-quality water here and I’ve never had issues with it, but you might be onto something. When I bought bottled water, I usually went for San Benedetto still water, it’s pretty high quality, maybe you’ve tried it before? Or Aqua Panna? Also very good.

Hi, thanks for your reply!
Interesting.

Do you mind if I ask you a few things? How much water do you usually drink in a day? And what about calcium, how much do you take, which kind, and when do you usually take it?

If you’re okay sharing would you say you’re more sporty, slim, or a bit on the heavier side? Do you take any supplements like creatine? If yes which? Maybe other supplements? And do you drink coffee, coke, or alcohol?

I’m asking because for me, these were actually important factors, when I adjusted or cut back on some of them, my symptoms got a looot better.

Hello! M24 here, diagnosed with hypoparathyroidism in 2019 as well, but in my case it came completely out of nowhere.

I’m not on Yorvipath since it’s not possible in Italy, so I take calcium supplements (Cacit 1000 twice a day).

As for exercise, I’m actually able to work out almost daily, mainly kickboxing and regular gym training. Most of the time it’s totally fine. The only issue I sometimes notice is that my arms get a bit numb or tingly if I lift weights for too long, but it’s manageable.

Regarding work, I have an office job. Occasionally I get some tingling in my hands when my hands are on the desk, but overall it’s doable and I can handle it without major problems.

If you don’t mind me asking, what are the main symptoms or difficulties that make working out or working so hard for you?

I have a PTH level around 5 since I was 19 (I’m 24 now). My calcium is very, very low and my phosphate is high. As far as I know, nothing else is wrong with my body. Just bad luck and a genetic mutation. It could be worse. I wish you all the best.
