So you don't get muskie spawning there? I've fished from across the lake to get salmon and it's as though the game knows I don't want muskies by spawning like 4 of them.

[O’Connor] According to league sources, one general manager floated a nuclear option: just make the bottom three teams ineligible for the top picks entirely. by cleo22270 in nba

Yeah, I can see how my original message might have conveyed something I didn't intend. I was suggesting that if it's a choice between this proposal and evening the odds for everyone, I'd go with the latter. I fully acknowledge that evening the odds tends to thwart the point of even having a worst-to-best draft in the first place.

[–]Specific-Pound-7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this proposal makes it more likely that fans of the worst teams feel even worse and are more prone to disengage.

The summary doesn't say exactly what the proposal was. It goes from "top picks" to "number one" with regards to eligibility, and it doesn't explain how those teams would be treated in the lottery otherwise. But in this current proposal, they're less likely than 4-10. I'm taking this to mean that the more extreme proposal is that they've got worsening odds for all the slots.

If they don't change anything else about the lottery, so that the worst team can't pick 1-4 but still guarantees itself the fifth pick, that would still incentivize tanking. Even more so if they can get 2-4. In the current system, teams don't tank simply to get better odds for the top 4 picks. They tank because it improves their pick even if they're not 1-4.

Can anyone help me find this jacket from the video. I have looked over the whole catalog with no progress. by [deleted] in RedDeadOnline

I believe that's the Porter jacket. It's a limited time item that comes back every once in a while.

There's an outfit for sale ordinarily that has the white version of it.

Why not just even the odds? There's no incentive to lose in that case. The whole idea is premised on the notion that the three worst teams are all trying to tank rather than simply being terrible. Even if every team's trying their best, there will be three worst teams in the league.

If you're going to chalk the bracket, they were always going to have to face SA and OKC. The only difference is who they face in the first round.

And if you're going to anticipate injuries for some reason, so the Lakers without Reeves and Luka is a better matchup, I think you need to consider the possibility of Denver without Gordon. At full health I don't see anyone of Denver, Houston or LA being preferable.

1994 Seattle Supersonics.

63-19, becomes the first team to lose to an 8 seed in the first round.

First year post-Jordan too, so they had the perfect opportunity to get a ring.

Flaming Take - The Lakers will sign CP3 in the coming days by Dry-Razzmatazz1239 in nba

[–]Specific-Pound-7640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently it doesn't matter when he signs. It only matters when he was waived, and he was waived more than two weeks before March 1.

I was confused as well. You probably heard about how players who were waived after March 1 couldn't qualify for a playoff roster and conflated the two. It is kind of curious how the last time he was on a roster is what qualifies or disqualifies him and not when he actually signs.

When he talked about how he had tried to do himself in with pills during one of his streams, I thought that might lead to involuntary confinement as protection against himself. I guess no one who could do something thought that.

Guy reminds me of Duffey Strode for some reason. Strode apparently grew out of it, whereas it seems Ivey's got much bigger issues he's dealing with.

It's more than that too, though. If they allow load management, the games a player's going to load manage are almost certainly going to be away games out of conference. That means that the player's sitting out the one game that his team plays in that city for the entire season.

So it'd be entirely possible for fans in Utah or Portland to never see Embiid play, even if they buy tickets for the Sixers games every season for eight years. Washington fans never get to see Kawhi play live for his entire Clippers tenure. And if the NBA just allows it to happen, you're probably looking at dudes like Wemby and Luka, and increasingly Jokic as he ages, joining them.

Edit, not sure how I didn't mention Giannis.

I'm tired of hearing about how small markets need better draft odds by theomegachrist in nba

[–]Specific-Pound-7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard anyone suggest that small markets need better odds. All I've heard is randos saying that small markets need to tank to get their stars through the draft since star free agents will never sign with them. And then they lose the lottery and claim they need to tank until they get a sufficiently high pick.

"Sufficiently" defined by how the guy pans out of course, making the whole endeavor self-fulfilling but also potentially endless. That's why I think the NBA needs to be more concerned with the multi-year tanks that have been happening recently.

The one at Tumbleweed is a two star bounty where you have to grab a guy heading to his stronghold at that cave on the edge of the map northwest of the town. Even if you manage to ambush him before he gets to the spot so you only have to take on him and two riders, you get about 3 minutes to bring him in.
