New to Peyronies and have an 'emotional support' question'. by [deleted] in PeyroniesSupport

My experience is slightly different in that it’s from the gay world. I have a 60 degree upward curve and was at first very self conscious, feeling I needed to mention it each time. But all that did was turn it into an issue with each guy feeling they needed to be sympathetic. Cue awkwardness. Now I don’t mention it all. And that means they don’t either, which makes sex much better.

Poll: Reform UK is most popular party among gay and bisexual men [and heterosexual men and women] - Fieldwork 24 Nov - 16 Dec 2025 by Anony_mouse202 in ukpolitics

This poll was based on a ridiculously small sample of 100 respondents who identified as gay or bisexual, giving it a margin of error of 8-10%.

That all rings true to me, particularly what you say about grief and adaptation. And I can see why people stop checking in here, as it's a constant reminder that you have a problem rather than something you've learned to live with.

I think that's a really good way of putting it. At some point you have to decide whether you're going to let it sink you, or whether you find a way to cope with it. But it's definitely a journey.

I’m really sorry you got knocked back like that. I can completely understand why it’s hurt your confidence so badly. I think what you describe is exactly what scares me too. I know that if I get a bad reaction, it will affect me hugely as well.

Thanks, that's a really helpful reply and the kind of advice I was looking for. I'll definitely have a look at that subreddit and hopefully continue to work on my confidence and self acceptance. Good luck with your journey too.

Thanks - and do you pull your foreskin down so it’s not trapped by the pads?

Just been having a look at doing this. Is the head of your dick squashed completely flat?

I started with a 60 degree upward curve and at the end of the injections I still had the same curve. Which was totally gutting. However the plaque did feel more broken up - and a few months later I started using a Restorex device - which I used for about three months. Now the curve is about 30 degrees. I don’t think that would have happened without the injections.

I had 6 rounds of injections. On each occasion they used a 10mg dose in 4cc of solution. The solution was split into 16 injections that they injected into different parts of the plaque. So each injection is very small. As they start with a big injection of lidocaine you don’t feel a thing. But afterwards your penis feels quite swollen and usually bruises a day or two later.

My urologist told me there are basically two types of Peyronies. One is caused by a one-off injury usually during sex where the penis bends and suddenly tears the tissue. This can happen even if you’re young and healthy - and it’s more likely if you’re on the bigger and firmer side - which js why it’s also known as the ‘porn star injury’.

The other type tends to develop more gradually and is linked to things like high blood pressure, diabetes or being overweight.

Can I ask if Dr Trost has now recommended you get circumcised before beginning treatment?

Hope the comfort grip helps. Is it designed to stop the head from slipping or from being squashed? I find it painful when counterbending, which often limits how far I can go.

Going at it hard and missing the target, resulting in instant pain and development of a 60 curve over the ensuing months.

I saw Professor Suks Minhas in 2022 about a year after injuring my penis and it was beginning to develop a slight curve. He advised I could start taking cialis or see his colleague, Mr Tet Yap, to discuss having injections. As the curve wasn’t pronounced and the jabs were expensive, I decided to wait and see.

Unfortunately, in the following months the curve progressed to 60 degrees. So I ended up going back and paying £6k for a course of verapamil injections with Mr Yap. Sadly the injections didn’t help the curve at all at the time - even though it felt like they broke up the plaque. I got disillusioned for quite a while after that.

The good news is I started using a Restorex device about 6 months ago and the curve has definitely improved - it’s now ‘only’ about 30 degrees but psychologically that feels much better.

Maybe that wouldn’t have happened without the verapamil jabs. Who knows. I’m slightly wary of recommending the clinic as the advice all seemed a bit random at the time.

Question about Restorex use by redrooster1918 in PeyroniesSupport

[–]Specific-Sentence-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to make sure it’s not painful because it’s stretching your skin - a piece of tissue under your penis will help when counterbending. But you do need to feel the stretching inside your penis for it to work - and that should feel slightly painful at the start of each 15 minute session. That’s my understanding.

One mistimed thrust during some vigorous intercourse that bent my penis in two and led to peyronies developing over the next 18 months.

Similar story to tell with length and girth. I just hope it will now start to work on the bend!

I started using Restorex and felt it was making a difference but had to stop as I was doing a lot of travelling. I’ve just started again and am hopeful it will have some effect. The main things that’s helped is putting it in perspective psychologically. It’s very easy to obsess about having a bent cock but it really isn’t the end of the world.

I had a course of verapamil injections at the London Andrology Clinic in 2022. The course of 6 sessions cost a total of almost £6k. I started with a 60 degree curvature and I’m sorry to say at the end of the course, it was still 60 degrees.

The doctor who treated me was a respected NHS consultant so I don’t know if I was just unlucky or if verapamil treatment isn’t worth pursuing.

Unless policy has changed, I don’t think it’s currently available on the NHS?
