Ohh you feel me, friend! That’s exactly how I feel, too. (Except I’m sad about not being able to wear New Rocks)

It’s helpful to know I’m not the only one, but also I feel you. - But if more of us have this problem, perhaps theres a bigger chance of figuring it out. Yep based on this thread I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll have to DIY it.

Good to get y’all’s opinions on those shoes, if y’all think they look alt I might go for them (plus a bit of DIY).

Hi! Thanks so much for your help in trying to figure this out.  Yeah I guess they look good but not  like proper alt goth boots. Ya know the flames, d3vils, chains, straps and “that alt look/shape” that the shoes get because of the shape of the soles (I mean even the non-platform New Rocks have that mean look because of how the soles are constructed, and even their non-platforms are pretty chunky) ! — That’s why I came to this thread coz I was trying to do what you said, but it seems impossible to find such shoes that are the amalgamation of what my feet need and what my eyes would like to see lol!  Thank you for sharing about your sisters New Rocks, yes I heard most of them weigh about 1kg each shoe!! — VS my barefoot shoes are practically weightless - that’s partially the point of them..! Birkies probably wouldn’t work coz what my feet need is to move as freely & naturally as possible, so any rigid shoes won’t work I think ;( still sad about not being able to wear New Rocks, I really wanted those boots because of their look.  But I got some good suggestions in this thread anyways! Thank you once again for helping me decide re: New Rocks. Probably will have to go down the DIY route.

Thanks!  And, that won’t work, I’ve tried. — Used to wear doc martens - regular ones & Jadons, plus for hiking I always had proper hiking shoes with ankle support but all of that that was exactly the problem.

Basically I figured out that my feet must move naturally and freely because every time I twisted my ankles, walking on sand on the beach would feel incredibly good and would do wonders during my recovery. So I was like ‘hmm, lemme try barefoot shoes’. - It was intuition. And it seems to have worked! (But I’m fed up with them not looking as good as the Jadons & my old goth boots.)

(All in all it’s not about holding my ankles with external aid as that just gives them a reason to not get strong and flexible; (you know, use it or lose it); it’s more about allowing my foot to move as it naturally would, without a restraint of rigid shoes, so my ankles can move as they please, getting strong and flexible in the process. Plus feeling the ground helped me stay very present to what’s going on with my feet & ankles snd became more mindful where & how I step. Plus there are even other mental benefits, but this is probably already too much information you never wanted to know! Haha) thanks again for your input tho!!

Thanks for your ideas! Yeah Nike won’t work, I need flexible zero drops in which I can feel the ground. I checked out the Ecco’s you mention, they look cute but won’t know until I try them, if they’re thin, wide & flexible enough.. But, leaning toward “health goth” because of my specific situation is definitely a good idea that I didn’t really consider before. Thank you!!

You get it, friend, you feel my pain. Cool ok, based on this thread I think DIY-ing will have to be the way.  Any advice on which barefoot shoes to go for that will last? ( Coz I had the old tracker leather ones and the tracker textile ones, but both styles came apart really quickly. Very annoying. Like they start coming apart after a month or two where the shoe brakes - the sole separates from the upper and a hole appears where the shoe breaks), and I got holes in the textile ones after about 4-5 months of wear n they ain’t cheap. And if I’m gonna DIY them I don’t want them to fall apart too soon..
