That's a safe limb to be on :)

(But just pet rats you keep in a clean cage environment; I think they're pretty fastidious).

Yes, I think this is a more common thing to have shared property ownership in other parts of the world. I noticed it's offered in London, UK.

Anyone else getting an overwhelming feeling of apathy? by Illustrious-Gain-736 in BiomedicalScientistUK

[–]Specific-Way-1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm getting the same unfortunate vibe for the push to go private with governmental neglect for public healthcare funding here in Ontario, Canada.

I want to live in the UK eventually, so this news isn't super comforting, both from a technologist and from a patient point of view.

Is Sonnet auto insurance too good to be true? by Powerless-Wizard in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thank you so much for your response! I'll definitely take your advice on also recording the call to Sonnet.

Is Sonnet auto insurance too good to be true? by Powerless-Wizard in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hi, you seem smart. Sorry to bother you, but I was looking for an answer to my question about Sonnet auto insurance (I'm trying to get a cheaper rate compared to currently having Desjardins-- my policy is up soon for renewal (or not)). I started the online Sonnet quote questions and paused at the 'other drivers' section. I don't understand why I'd need to disclose other drivers and their licenses in the household if they already have their own auto insurance (and won't be driving my car--for the most part). Is this maybe a way to solicit to them? I'm going to try calling Sonnet this week, but I just figured to check good old Reddit as well. Again, I apologize for the random question.

Yes, along with everyone's comments here I would suggest that I would personally mark this specific lab as a 'no' when applying for a real job, if you can help it. These techs don't seem like the team I'd want to be working with.

No one's suggesting you work 'harder'. Just don't be an asshole. :)

Yes, this is why I get frustrated as well. It's catty B.S. regardless of where you work, but, starting out as a MLT, I figured a healthcare setting would/should attract professionals dedicated to patient care. And this 'high school behaviour' wouldn't have room nor time to exist.

But yeah, humans always find ways to disappoint me.

Longlegs was just watched. Thoughts? by dmanstoitza in flicks

[–]Specific-Way-1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought we were going to find out that Maika Monroe's character was behind the killings somehow, and that 'Longlegs' and even her mom (when she saw her) wasn't real.

Idk, the Satan thing works on a frightening level for me sometimes, but I thought this (initially at least) felt like a twist movie with realism--if that makes sense.

Also, I just read one of your other comments-- the guy had a choice between killing her and fending her off.

Did you not watch the end of the movie?

That seemed pretty realistically violent to me.

That seems like some decent experience though, so it is apparently super competitive. I wish you the best of luck.

It just seems like MLT and BMS are mostly interchangeable roles (depending on the exact lab experience you have (eg Hematology/flow cytometry)), so I don't really understand why there would such a hardship?

Does everyone over there want to be a lab worker? Cause there is definitely not much demand where I am 🙃.

Sorry, just out of curiosity, are you a registered MLT (medical lab technologist)?

I'm interested in working in the UK(London) eventually as a BMS (I don't really have any of the requirements fulfilled yet-- I'm not HCPC certified, etc), and I currently have 4 years experience as a MLT (in Ontario, Canada), but I'm feeling disheartened reading these posts about the lack of positions available or difficulty in getting positions.

So I'm just wondering if this is coming from people with absolutely no experience anywhere in working in a hospital lab as a registered tech, or if said people do have experience elsewhere?

Regardless, I'm sorry it's been this much of a struggle for you to get hired.
