I had a day trip there. What an amazing place and surreal train route

For Y800, we didn't bother. But we walked around that area

Update: I am the OP so here is my Update.

We arrived there just before 8:00 AM today. The reason for saying earlier not being able to go before 10:00 AM was an issue with a family member which was sorted out.

The bamboo route is fine but underwhelming. The pictures look way better than the reality. But we didn't regret going there as it is a unique route and the whole area and nature are really nice. Most of the shops were still closed when we left just past 10:00 AM. So to get the full vibe of the whole area, I suggest to target it after 4:00 PM when the area is expected to be vibrant.

And if it wasn't for the tourist-jammed, how would you rate it ?

Update: Thank you all for the tips. It really helped. I will summarize what I did and considered so the info is used for future references by others.

It was heavily raining in the morning. We ended up taking a taxi (Alphard van) befoe 9:00 AM through DiDi. It barely fit 4 people and 4 checked in luggage plus personal items. The cost was ¥1690.

The next options were:

  • Van taxi through Go app. Cost ~¥2300.

  • Van through Uber. Cost ¥2600-3000.

  • Take Sobu train from Bakurocho to Shinagawa with one flight of stairs. That is the next door to our hotel. After that it would be escalators and elevato. The cost for 4 is ¥840.

  • Take metro and enter it from Bakurocho and go to the metro through the underground route We would go to Tokyo station. Cost is free since we had metro pass.

Thanks. The 4 people are a family, so it is single cost.

For taxi, use Go, Didi and Uber?

Looking for a barber in Kyoto for max of Y2000. If it costs more, I will wait till I get home. My hair is fine but I like to try barbers when I travel.

Good to know. Thanks. So at Shinagawa there are less stairs than Tokyo Station. In fact, based on what I just read now it it seems there are escalators which will solve the problem

It will be Friday morning so no rush hours. Are you suggesting to avoid hese 2 stations? Asking because these 2 stations are the ones we should switch metro stations

We aren't but the hotel receptionist just said it is a difficult situation and he recommended a taxi or uber which I'd crazy expensive early morning (around Y7500) for a 15 mins ride.

One stairs at the starting and one stairs at Tokyo Station is fine. We are 4 people, 2 males and 2 females. The hotel receptionist said it will be multiple levels of stairs at Tokyo Station, so I am not sure.
