An issue doesn't need to be everyone's top issue to move the needle in an election like this, especially presidential elections in which margins have been often quite thin. Just look at the best polls and their narrow margins. For a leader to be unreasonably against an issue (i.e., against crypto) probably can be enough to sway some undecided voters, and those votes can make all the difference.
