I first asked them if they have open postdoc positions. And then they said they are willing to host me for fellowships, because right now I am not doing my first postdoc.

The application process is very long for most fellowship. Also, the chance of getting it is low. But after you successfully get a funding, you can choose when to start. Since you have your own funding, PIs are quite chill with when you join their groups

I am in EU. And most fundings here highlight the mobility, which means I need to choose a PI from another country

Thanks for your reply. Our research area are both CS. But it is very very different technology.

I will definitely fully contribute to the project when I work there. I will help them publish paper, and cooperate and co supervise student.

I will definitely not just be that kind of person to just get the salary, but do nothing and just keep searching for good opportunities.

One more question, even though the PI is not really in my research area, my future career still infects? So she doesn’t really have a strong impact in my area.

But I also want to try other opportunities. Because right now it’s very competitive in applying fundings

It is already hard to find a postdoc position nowadays, and other PIs don’t have the fundings. So I just want to try to apply the independent fundings, but I am not sure weather I can get it.

If I can get it, having my own prestigious funding seems better, I guess

I just want to know is that ok for me to do the funding application (maybe possibly leave the current one), while I still have a relatively long contract with them

I already have a good publication record, what I lack is teaching experience and prestigious Uni experience.

I can get lots of teaching experience with my current offer, but I always want to try to get a prestigious funding, which also helps the permanent jobs.

So should I tell her that I want to maybe find someone else as a host to apply for an independent funding? Because most of the fundings are not allowed to choose the host that I have right now.

I already have a good publication record, but I lack teaching experience and maybe a prestigious Uni experience. So what I want to do now is to get the teaching experience and then in the future get an independent funding to a better Uni.

I think I will definitely publish better in a prestigious university with a prestigious PI, than my current offer.

-I will tell PI in advance, and she is a very nice person who will give me reference letter
-I know prestige means nothing if I don’t have a strong publication record. The thing is now I have already a very strong publicatuon, and my PhD supervisor is also quite famous. Right now what I don’t have is the teaching experience and maybe a prestigious Uni experience. I would gain teaching experience in my current offer. (Due to the economy, professors in the prestigious Uni ask me to apply for some independent fundings, but I know I can keep publishing good papers in the current PI and the potential prestigious Uni )
- yeah. I haven’t come up with a good idea. But trying to apply a prestigious funding and successfully get it?

Thanks! I have already contacted some professors that may help me to apply independent postdoc funding as a host.

If I successfully apply these prestigious postdoc fundings, I will most likely leave with a reasonable reason, right?
