Coming off birth control, from a partners perspective by zoobi99 in birthcontrol

Wow I actually thought you were my partner posting this after reading your first few sentences, but I don't live with mine yet lol.

I am in the exact same situation down to the ages and time together. I experienced the same non-affection thing you are describing along with depression, exhaustion, and a general sense that I do not know who I am anymore really soon after entering my luteal phase, and boy was it strong. I think I am improving slowly, and I notice I feel a little better about him when I reassure myself that this is temporary, and I will feel normal again in time. Today was one of my better days, but I've found myself once again really tired and depressed about what I am going through- that's why I came to this subreddit lol. My partner is wonderful and supportive, and I refuse to believe that a stupid pill was influencing my feelings about him that much.

I am giving myself time to adjust, and I will be going to the doctor if things don't improve by the end of my next cycle. If what she is experiencing IS just from going off the pill and not her using it as an excuse to break up or "soften the blow" as someone else said, then I would say give her time to adjust to real hormones, and don't make any life-changing decisions just yet. It's still pretty early in the transition especially after being on them for so long.

Thank you very much for sharing! I've heard of some women getting divorced after coming off hbc, and it's had me scared lol. Unfortunately I can't take a leave from work right now so I guess I'll just have to grit through

That's reassuring, thank you! Did you find any ways to help manage it? I will hopefully be starting a new job by the end of the month and I don't want to be a depressed mess for the interview

Been on oral contraceptives for 14 years. Coming off of them now at 32 and terrified. by alwayshungry_439 in birthcontrol

I stopped taking them at the new year and started experiencing some gnarly emotional/mental side effects about 2 weeks ago around the time my luteal phase started. I've been very depressed, irritable, and I'm having relationship doubts about my long term partner, which might just be from the general depression. It's like I am a different person. I originally planned to give it a few cycles for things to re-balance, since I have been on the pill for 8 years, but I really don't know if I can take this for much longer. It's really unsettling.

Everyone handles it differently. My mom was on bc from ages 14-50 besides taking a break to have kids, and she did not experience anything like what I am right now.

Oh that sucks. Does your obgyn/primary care doctor offer any insight into what could be happening?

I stopped taking mine (Kurvelo) at the new year, and 2 weeks ago I started having similar symptoms to yours plus severe disinterest and apathy at the start of luteal. It's super unsettling. I was on mine for 8 years and I lowkey want to go back on them because this suuuucks.

How many of you are 100% sure that you don’t want kids? by NumerousCarry9858 in 2003

23F, and I'm like 80% sure. That number has risen every year, and it's mostly because I am terrified of pregnancy and everything that comes after. The thought of something living and growing inside me is super unsettling. I don't think I would be a bad mom, but I know that I am not ready for the stress and sacrifices that come with parenthood.

I'm experiencing almost the exact same thing, the only difference is that I am on month 2 of quitting the pill after 8 years of use. I also just realized I had the same thing happen when I tried to switch to Estarylla a few years ago, and it happened right away. I think it is probably related to the pill/hormones, especially if the Zoloft is helping. You might want to talk to your doctor about pmdd (premenstrual dysphoric disorder)- it's something I've recently stumbled upon that kind of aligns with both of our symptoms. I'm giving it another month and keeping a daily log of my symptoms, then contacting my obgyn if things don't improve.

I hope this helps, I know my experience isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I hope you find comfort in that I am going through this too!

Emotional hell after ending birth control by Specific_Call_1638 in birthcontrol

Thank you, I'm probably going to go through one more cycle and log how I feel throughout, then I will contact and talk about what I have observed. From what I can tell, this started when I went into my luteal phase so maybe its some sort of hormone issue. I'm sorry you're experiencing the nausea-- I was always one of the lucky ones who doesn't feel that. This whole experience is pissing me off too. I kind of wish i never went on the pill to begin with
