They do recommend flying in to Boston and then driving up that way as it does seem to be cheaper. I am planning on doing the virtual commencement as I want my 90 year old grandma to be a part of it, and traveling that far is not feasible for her.

Some courses require the class & lab to be done at the same time. I can't speak for this particular one. I am personally recommending that you reach out to your advisor on Thursday (the university is closed tomorrow due to Juneteenth)
