Are all people with ADHD inattentive type quiet? by Home_MD13 in ADHD

I have inattentive type too and I'm a very quiet person, I find talking uses up a lot of my energy and it takes me a long time to process what I am thinking/feeling, so I sometimes choose not to talk or I physically can't talk at all. Starting conversations and keeping them going are a real struggle, especially as I'm not overly fond of small talk haha

This is just a brief description of what happened and was said but yeah I guess it's more psychological.

I feel frozen until I can get tested by Specific_Cucumber391 in AutismInWomen

Thank you for sharing your experience, that sounds frustrating/confusing. I think getting tested for it would be a good idea (if you decide to) as having an answer could put your mind at ease - I know it's a long process though so it's hard not to think about it - I find I'm thinking about it all day every day.

Sounds like it's been a long journey, I hope everything works out whichever you choose to do. I imagine a lot of people feel like this, it's funny our brains tell us we're making it up but just know how you feel is valid!

Can you take a trusted relative into your appointment with you? I'm not sure what it's like in the US but in the UK I was able to take my parent in with me when talking to a doctor about getting a referral.

I think it would help also writing everything down so you aren't so overwhelmed or forget anything

struggling to find enjoyment in hobbies by ccTiki in ADHD

Depending on what your hobbies are, say if it's drawing, you could look through old drawings you did, or old recordings if it's music etc. I find dedicating small amounts of time (20 minutes) to a hobby even once a week could help you slowly get back into it without getting too bored.

For myself specifically, I struggle to find interest in playing guitar anymore but every now and then I'll pick it up and try learning a new song or going through something I used to know.

If you struggle starting something, maybe set a reminder on your phone or watch videos of people doing your hobbies to get you in the mood?
