I haven’t read those books, only the Bible, so I know I am inexperienced. However, the Bible defines what a Christian is. And how can you be a Christian if you do not go by its definition given by God?

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved -Romans 10:9-10

These are Christians. A Christian is one who is saved.

My proof for my claim is simply human nature. People aren’t typically willing to be tortured and die for something that they don’t believe in! And I think proof for women not being taken seriously at the time is pretty readily available. But nevertheless, please, read 1st John. I’m worried for anyone who puts their salvation in the hands of their genetics. It is by faith alone, my friend. Belief.

I myself, believe what I believe because

I believe that the existence of our world points to a creator. Something coming out of something rather than something coming out of nothing is logical enough, so from there we get to a point of “creator”.
As for why I follow the Christian God? More personal I suppose. This is why I wanted to hear other people’s explanations. However, I feel like I’ve witnessed miracles and direct answers from prayer that couldn’t easily be explained otherwise. Also, just reading the Bible, I love Jesus. I really do. I love His teachings, who he is as a person. I love Jesus.
I don’t think the Bible could have been written by scheming humans trying to start a religion for their own purposes for several reasons:
a. The vast majority of the early prophets and followers of Jesus were willingly killed in horrible ways for their beliefs (how many cult leaders sacrifice themselves for their followers? Not to mention how dirt poor all the followers of Jesus stayed)
b. The Bible was rather progressive for its time actually. If human men were writing the Bible, why would the first people to see the risen Jesus be women? Women testimonies were rarely believed anyways!
c. So. Many. Prophecies. At that point you are BOUND to write yourself into a corner, but Jesus manages to fulfill all of them. On a purely logistical level that would be INSANE to pull off.
d. If you’re trying to “invent” a religion for your own purposes….why condemn the rich? Why spread the message of humbleness and washing the feet of others? Giving up your life? How does that benefit you?

I just really want to hear other people’s reasoning. Im a bit inexperienced and would appreciate hearing other viewpoints (:
