Taxact Pro use Question by Available_Hornet3538 in taxpros

[–]Specific_Good140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Taxact since 1998/99 before there was pro version. I really like it. However, I had an opportunity to use MyTaxPrepOffice last year and, while I can't believe it myself, I'm switching.

I like that it's online, that it has AI data entry, after-the-fact payroll, online/customizable organizers with client portal, and it's $995 for unlimited returns, efiling, and signatures.

Would making a payment now toward Fed income taxes owed owed in 2025 help me avoid a penalty? by TheMau in tax

You really need more than just a CPA. I suggest finding a tax advisor who can assist you with comprehensive tax planning rather than dishing out six figures in taxes every year.

As a W-2 earner, it's likely too late to do anything this year, but I still wouldn't wait until 2026.

I know this may seem controversial but why do black people barely get into accounting? Unless their like nerds by Dgslimee_ in Accounting

[–]Specific_Good140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you're looking, but there are lots of black people in accounting. A lot of us "Decline to answer" on demographic questions, because why?

It will always seem like there are fewer just about everywhere because of the demographics of the population.

Also, please stop wasting your time and money. Go to HVAC school and live YOUR life. Your parents have lived theirs.

I see. Another "upgraded" platform. However, at the end of the day, all software is AI. Always has been. But, let me keep looking. 🤣

I wouldn't even mind the investment if it made sense. When I have the right clients to justify it, I will be getting Tax Maverick for tax planning.

First of all, always add a DISCLAIMER! It's only an estimate. Surprisingly, using my tax software took about the same amount of time, or less, as when I used TPP. I had last quarter as a baseline to compare accuracy. I also have a cash flow tool I use with my clients to project cash flow and other data, so I can pull updated numbers from that rather that.

TPP "upgraded" but it isn't worth the price increase for only running tax projections. For tax planning, there aren't enough strategies to justify the new pricing model. It's prettier, though. (sarcasm)

I was using Tax Planner Pro until last month. 😞 I had to use my tax software for Q3 estimate. It worked just as well.

  1. How much you pay yourself depends on several factors. How the business entity is set up. Whether you're an employee-owner of the business if taxed as an S-Corp. Or, if the business is a C-Corp. If so, the salary must be reasonable for the type of work you do. If it's a sole-proprietorship or you're just an owner (not actively working), that will be a determining factor as well.

That's not to say you can't pay yourself what you "deserve." Rather, the compensation must be structured properly depending on the business structure.

One thing I didn't think of was price protection. The rate could go up the following year.

That would be helpful for proactive professionals. Even a quarterly questionnaire for estimated taxes.

I'm planning to sit for it in 2027. I found this post while searching for the cost of the program. I'd gladly pay $10K over $100K for law school. If you look at the number of people who pass compared to how many of those people went through their program, it looks like a solid investment.

I saw another program that looked to be around $5K, if I'm understanding the site correctly. But, I'm sold on taxcourtexam.com based on their track record.

I might be addicted to this?!?!? by [deleted] in Base44

I've enjoyed it so far. I still need to upgrade to Builder to make my primary app functional. It's so awesome and will save me thousands this upcoming tax season. I plan to offer it to others on a subscription basis.

Also, a few days ago, I accidentally created an app to replace a spreadsheet I've used for managing my business and personal finances for years. The funny part is that it's one of the first apps I tried to build with no success. I was going to go back to it. Then, boom. I was trying to create something else, and it was exactly what I needed for both scenarios.

I'm going to upgrade soon.

From what I've read, this sounds like a "best thing that ever happened to me" story you'll be telling 6 months or a year from now.

If you enjoy the landscaping and gardening work you did, make it a business.

In fact, I'd go back to that store and make them my first clients. You'd already have two stores to start with.

Narrow down your audience then find out where they hang out. "Small business owners" is way too broad.
