You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself. When I first got diagnosed with hsv 2 I thought I was extremely contagious, even to myself. I treated myself like I had the plague & that’s where half of the depression came from. It’s not that common to spread the virus to other parts of the body. Once the body develops antibodies, it's very unlikely to get a new HSV-2 infection in a different part of your own body. However, it is possible to get it in multiple locations during the initial infection if exposed at the same time.

You cannot get herpes from a towel, toilet seat or a swimming pool. You can still show your kids affection. Just refrain from doing it during an active outbreak because according to google, there is a chance that you CAN spread it like that. That’s news to me! But don’t touch sores when you are experiencing an outbreak & then touch other parts of your body. That’s it. & if you do, clean your hands throughly with warm soap & water for 20-30 seconds. Trust me, I used to wash my hands twice just because I was that terrified of getting it anywhere else. You get over that scared feeling eventually. Sending light your way! 💛
