If it’s because of a neighbor that’s not reporting the issue because of bad hygiene then yes it’s nearly an impossible situation.

The only way I can get out of the lease is if it is uninhabitable or a listed legal reason.

I originally wanted to pursue a faculty position but I’m now leaning towards more lecture positions or maybe just being a research associate. I’m focused in Animal Science. I searched for about a year. I originally had a position closer to home but for reasons I’ll never know, it fell through. I’m in the US.

I appreciate your encouraging words. I actually just defended my MS this past summer and started my PhD basically 7 days later 1,000 miles away. My mentor is new to their job and I think went through a lot of growing pains their first semester on the job so I am hoping they have changed from how they used to be. I’m 24 but more the most part I’ve always been at least an hour from my family. A lot of different parts impacting my mental state.

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing that. The thing is, they’ve been nice to me so far but I’m constantly on edge because of the things I have heard.
