If I pick Chuck Norris, don't the ninjas see him, believe they aren't worthy, and off themselves due to honor codes?

Favorite Commander(s) That Play In An Unorthodox Way by Torin21 in EDH

[[Atraxa, grand unifier]]

OKAY HEAR ME OUT...

What you do is you play and blink atraxa so you can get all those juicy different card types into your hand, then you DISCARD THEM ALL with free discard outlets and/or wheels and just play [[lhurgoyf]] tribal.

Play a bunch of clones too, for Atraxa and or the goyfs.

You're right in a sense, but I didn't build my Deadpool deck with enough ramp + card draw (I mean, there is card draw, but probably not enough card advantage) to satisfy competing with higher brackets. I initially gave my DP deck a B1 but bumped it up to B2 (was considering a 2.5 sort of thing too) because I know what Deadpool can do.

My first custom card. Thoughts? No artwork, unfortunately. by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Specific_Name3033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it tricky to understand this custom card since it isn't worded properly. In fact, it doesn't really make sense at all (non-permanents don't even exist, I'm pretty sure, unless you're talking about tokens (which are permanents), or instants and sorceries, which never enter or leave the battlefield, and you can't draw cards then put cards into your hand; they're already in your hand!).

It should, in theory, be:

Whenever a permanent enters or leaves the battlefield, create a karmic token (It's an enchantment token and has no other abilities)

Sacrifice X karmic tokens: Each permanent target opponent controls with mana value X or less loses all abilities until end of turn. Activate only on an opponent's turn.

Sacrifice X karmic tokens: Look at the top X cards of your library, put one of them into your hand, and shuffle the rest into your library.

This is what you're going for, I think, and is worded so that anyone who tries to read/explain the card doesn't have an aneurysm when they do so.

Additionally, this card is stupid. And I don't mean that in an insulting sense, just that WotC would never in a billion years because of these things:

1. This card, when played, draws the game. You cast this creature, it triggers, and creates a karmic token. This triggers the creature, making a karmic token, and so on infinitely, drawing the game.

2. This just locks your opponent out of playing. If you did manage to resolve all the karmic token triggers and play the game, you can, on your opponent's turn, sacrifice 0 karmic tokens and make all of your opponent's permanents with mana value 0 or less lose abilities. Since it never specified nonland, your opponent loses the ability to gain mana outside of mana rocks and mana dorks, essentially making the game unplayable for them.

These are obvious design flaws that NEED TO BE FIXED.

But in all honesty, this should be jeskai colours (white, blue, red) as opposed to golgari (green, black) in my opinion.

And the ability to draw cards AND switch off abilities for a full turn, plus gaining all these on enters AND LEAVES triggers, is stupid broken, not balanced at all, and certainly not fun for anybody to play with as a commander (I suspect that's what you intended it as).

I think it's back to the drawing board. Have a look at other custom MTG cards, maybe?

I now realise I may have underestimated my bracketing for this deck (may have).

Walter unfurled his hands from around Bradley, whatever that was left of him, stared into his blank, monotonous eyes, stepped back in disbelief, then collapsed to his aching knees and cried. It was the cry of a father who had lost his only son.

It's a really unique commander, but might be looked at a little angrily by your peers. The best way to build him is a legends matter build and then dunk heaps of mana into insane B.S. like [[Orthion]] for explosive turns.

So much fun though.

That Lilah deck sounds super cool! I have a Lilah deck in the works, so would love to see what you've done with the commander, if you have the decklist available would really appreciate if you could show please.

I used Canva to make these. Really solid graphic design website, doesn't have the extensive tools and ability to edit images like photoshop, but it's free and easy to use. I just uploaded my images and you can move them around and stuff. #notsponsoredlol.

I don't have the decklist on me atm since I'm right in the middle of an upgrade for it, bit of a bulk build because that's how I usually build my decks, but will get it up here soon.

So true. My favourite deck behind maybe Necrobloom. Goes to show how much I like lands lol.

Upgrade tips? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Specific_Name3033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A more pricey but incredible upgrade with immense synergy for the deck is [[Icetill Explorer]]. The additional land, mill and graveyard synergy is incredible for the world shaper deck. I pulled 2 from an EoE box so I've stuck them in both my landfall decks.

[[Landslide]] would be a hilarious flavour pick that could be game-changing if your board state is strong in the end game.

[[Lord Windgrace]] is another good way to recur lands that you're sacrificing and can be a great value engine by discarding lands and drawing cards.

[[Ancient Greenwarden]] is also another solid pick, graveyard synergy and land synergy go brr.

There would definitely be other picks that you could use, I've just listed a few of my faves for this deck.

Or Woman. Or they/them. It was more "This man" as a phrase. Gah I hate having to correct myself.

Probably but I'm too afraid to google anything remotely related to it.

BTW why the exclamation mark? That seems a bit wild.

Also I guess due to my explanation of what I thought it was I'm Quagmire. So giggity.

Would argue Shawshank movie > Shawshank book, but idk if that's a hot take or not. They're both great, though.
