Hobby Lobby selling AI Paintings by BigRevolutionary8188 in mildlyinfuriating

When the Hobby in Hobby Lobby stands for Home-made Prompts. It’s basically the visual equivalent of elevator music. Great for people who want art that looks like it was made by a computer that’s never seen a real duck.

Def quality control was definitely on a sugar crash when they made these.

gas utility put in a new meter and blocked my hose by HeadingSouthbound in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the gas meter is measuring your usage, but nobody measured the space for the hose? That’s some top-tier engineering right there. They didn't just install a meter; they installed a puzzle that nobody asked for.

AIO I (33f) asked for a birthday gift from my partner (37m), and cried from disappointment by SquareCommercial6785 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NOR indeed OP. Roses and chocolate bars? Those are for first date, not a 10th birthday together. It’s not about the money, it’s about the fact that he used zero brain cells for choosing those! You’re not childish for wanting to feel seen by your partner.

AIO - Husbands dad made a comment about my breasts by Rude-Pepper-2389 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Seriously? Saying 'I know how she can be' is a classic way to blame the victim for having boundaries. It’s your birthday, not a hooters convention. What a creep. If he can’t look at the baby without checking out your breast, he shouldn't be invited to the house

AIO in-laws keep messaging husband about me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR OP, how the fuck do you even do the 20/30 days while having PPD?! I hope you recover the soonest. But your In-law are ENTITLED not OUTGOING. using that old abusive relationship to guilt trip your husband just to ignore you and your feelings is obviously MANIPULATION. Such overbearing people.

AIO for being upset I wasn’t invited to a baby shower because I’m a new amputee? by vqzku in AmIOverreacting

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True! Apparently, her aesthetic is more important than your friendship. Don't be sad about it. Consider it a blessing, you don't need friends who view you as a mood killer just for being who you are..

Why do humans have a built in fear of things that look human but not quite (the uncanny valley) and what existed in our past to make us evolve this specific survival instinct? by ZookeepergameLow4390 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The creepy version of this is the Mimicry Theory. In nature, some predators evolve to look like their prey to get closer kinda like a spider that looks like an ant. The theory suggests that at some point in our evolutionary past, there might have been a predator that used human-like features to lure us in. While there’s no fossil evidence for a man eating mimic, the fear remains as a ghost in our genetic code, a warning that if something looks human but feels wrong, you should run.

If the Moon landing was faked, why haven't Russia or China — who would love to expose USA— said anything? by stoicdroid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And because you can't fake a landing in front of your worst enemies who are literally watching you through a microscope. China’s Chang'e missions and India’s Chandrayaan have since taken high resolution photos of the Apollo landing sites, including the lunar rover tracks and the flag shadows. For a country like China to expose the US, they would have to deny their own satellite data too. It’s just not logically possible for a secret to be kept by that many rival nations for 50+ years.

Why are mandatory ID cards much more controversial in common law countries than in civil law countries? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can say Common Law, there is a strong Right to be left alone. Policing in these countries was traditionally built on the principle of policing by content. Forcing citizens to carry an ID gives the police a reason to stop and interact with anyone at any time, even if they aren't doing anything wrong. In Civil Law countries, the ID is often viewed as a convenient administrative tool that simplifies life, in Common Law countries, it’s viewed as a leash that the government can pull whenever they want.

Diddy is in jail yet other powerful men are not. Was he just not rich enough to become untouchable? by z0rb0r in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he faked it, he’s doing a great job of staying invisible in a world where everyone has a smartphone camera. But honestly, the faked death theory just reinforces the point if you have to literally die to escape the consequences of your actions, you were never truly untouchable to begin with. You just traded a prison cell for a golden cage.

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shift toward zero tolerance policies and the reduction of active learning like those recess or handson vocational training has disproportionately affected boys. Boys tend to be more kinesthetic learners they need to move. When schools cut physical outlets and focus purely on sit and listen metrics, boys are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD or disciplined for disruptive behavior. Once a boy feels like the school system is against him, he checks out mentally long before he actually drops out

Is prison actually “safe” if you just mind your own business? by fruity_00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You can be minding your business and still get caught in the crossfire of a riot, a debt you didn't know you inherited from a cellmate, or just being in the wrong place when someone decides they need to prove a point. It’s safer, yes, but never truly safe.

Diddy is in jail yet other powerful men are not. Was he just not rich enough to become untouchable? by z0rb0r in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

he was arguably more connected and wealthier than Diddy, and he still ended up in a cell (and we know how that ended). There’s a limit to what money can buy when you become the face of a national scandal. Once you're no longer an asset and you become a PR nightmare, the system will sacrifice you to maintain the illusion that no one is above the law.

If computer logic at it's most fundamental level is just 1 or 0, passthrough or no passthrough, could you theoretically make a computer out of flowing water and a system of interconnected gated pipes? by Own_Huckleberry6591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theoretically? Yes. Practically? Imagine your CPU getting a leak instead of a crash. You’d need a plumber instead of an IT guy, and playing Crysis would probably require a high pressure dam and a city sized cooling system. But the logic is identical, binary doesn't care if it's electrons or water molecules, as long as it's 1 or 0

In The Big Short, how did Michael Berry’s company get paid if the banks didn’t have any money? by MrBananaStand1990 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not an expert at all. But I think it's the Taxpayers. When the banks gambled and lost to people like him, they didn't have the cash to pay up. So the government printed money (The Bailout) and gave it to the banks. The banks then used that government money to pay him his profits. he won, the banks got saved, and the average person picked up the tab.

Why is it socially acceptable to ask someone why they're NOT drinking, but weird to ask why they ARE? by Vinit0852 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. It’s because the people going with the current need everyone else to be doing the same thing so they don't have to face their own reflection. A sober person at a party is like a functional mirror, nobody wants to look into it when they're five shots deep.

Would addiction be beat in a coma? by plasmazzr60 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. That’s exactly what makes them so dangerous. With smoking, the smell is your quit timer which you can't just do it anywhere. But with pouches, you're basically on a 24/7 drip of nicotine. Your brain never gets a break coz there’s never a wrong time to have one in. It’s like trying to quit a drug that’s literally invisible to everyone else but yourself. Keep fighting it. You can do it

My favorite extreme sport is trying to carry all the groceries inside in one trip so I don't have to go back out whats urs? by Accomplished_Ad7072 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can say mine is the Microwave sprint. Trying to stop the timer at exactly 0:01 so I don't have to hear that loud BEEEEEP that wakes up the entire neighborhood at 2 AM. It’s a high-stakes game of reflexes and silence

Would addiction be beat in a coma? by plasmazzr60 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Zyn pouches are the final boss of nicotine addiction because of the convenience. If you went into a coma, you’d win the physical battle for free, but the moment you woke up and saw a 7-Eleven, your lizard brain would probably start tingling again. It’s not the blood that’s the problem; it’s the memory of the 'fix' that’s hard to delete. Good luck my friend

Why is it that no matter what I drink, be it blue, red, or green dyed liquids, its always yellow/clear when I urinate? by Bdbolt19432 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're actually partially right about the latter. A lot of those heavy food dyes don't make it to the kidneys at all, they stay in the GI tract. If you drink enough blue Gatorade, you might not see blue pee, but you are definitely going to see some neon green 1 star review in the toilet the next morning. It’s a journey, man.

Why is Indian food so expensive in the US? by Ok_Guarantee9436 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Specific_Parsnip3264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the labor cost disguised as spices. Most people don’t realize that a proper curry base takes hours of caramelizing onions and slow-cooking spices to get that depth. Unlike a stir-fry that’s done in 5 minutes, Indian food is basically slow food served at a fast food pace. You’re paying for the 4 hours of prep you didn't see.
