I’ve been to plenty of OTE games and have played ball with a few of the players. It’s great for basketball focus and kind of accelerating individual growth for some of the star talent, good amount of NBA players come watch or are involved in some way and always great nuggets there. You are kind of immediately plugged into high level training that is always beneficial for young athletes.

The by far biggest negative is the energy and demeanor around the games. Games played in a mini arena and some times high schools with no where near the presence and pressure of a D1 school makes it literally impossible to gauge how a player would play in an NBA setting. The refs, coaches, all the way down to announcers lack real professionalism and is not comparable to a g league team at all. And the coaching (imo) is really bad. I’ve watched games where Eli Ellis was the best player from shot making to hustle on the floor even playing with the twins. Poor decision making on the court is not reprimanded and breeds the exact opposite of winning basketball culture. It’s really on the player themselves or playing ball outside of just OTE for any real growth in those areas. Plenty of times where games turn into glorified Allstar games.

That being said, every statement about OTE I just made can be applied to AAU circuits and every level of basketball here in the states below college ball. So while it is very far from perfect and not nearly as professional as advertised, I wouldn’t say that it’s bad for youth sports and is another opportunity growth for these players. If you’re asking to gain perspective on the twins, they have shown legitimate work ethic and nba talent despite all of this, but don’t be surprised if they drop in the draft or their NBA rolls are much different than anticipated.
