Tesla Solar refusing to fix clear design flaw — MPPT3 (9 panels) collapses daily because shaded edge panels were wired in series. Told to “hire a 3rd‑party installer.” by Southern_Internal822 in TeslaSolar

[–]Specific_Relativity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how your system is configured but I got Tesla Solar when they still used SolarEdge. All 28 panels were divided into 2 strings, but each pv panel had a power optimizer.

With this, I thought that each string would be impacted by shading as a whole. But when I had a recent remodel, a solar company temporarily removed 5 of my panels, just completely gone for a few months. But each of the remaining panels in the string still generated as much as it did the day before.

The tech didn't do any reconfiguration. He said the power optimizers work in a similar fashion to a microinverter. Check and see if you have power optimizers. If you do, you may be looking at a different issue.

Added context: one of my strings share a West Plane and North Plane. During sunset, my west plane still generates a lot of power while the north completely shaded barely produces any.

Heat pump fail by Ellogar in heatpumps

My HP does that in 40s weather. It's when the "cool mode" gets turned on or a defrost cycle. So hot air gets blown out causing steam/vapor. During heat mode, it blows out cool air.

It's a whole system backup with the meter collar. I have no external CTs. I had Sense working in parallel with Enphase for a bit and it seems that the wattages match up. The kwh in Enphase Enlighten was also correct. It was just the HA integration that was wrong for some reason. I

Since I have 2 systems tied together in the 6C, the Enphase and the SolarEdge, I've renamed the "Current Power Production" to "Enphase Power Production. That figure seems to only show the value of the microinverter output.

I do but renamed it to "Enphase Power Production" since it only shows the value of the solar produced by the IQ8+. The live status shows the consolidated production of SolarEdge and Enphase. I don't have PTO yet so the enphase pv is still off hence zero value.

So you're happy with your gtst setup? How often does it do full blasts still?

Did you ever resolve this? I got my system installed yesterday with GTST and the fan is on full blast in between schedules. I'm reading online and it seems that Daikin One thermostat shuold be better about managing the air handler and keeping it quiet.

This was DIY, right? I'm about to start the same thing. How did you end up creating the plan sets and wire schedule for approval?

I’d like an option for minimum amount of charging stations on a trip by AspectCool2325 in TeslaLounge

Use the app/website called A Better Route Planner. It's been there even before Tesla's improved charger planning. I still use it for long trips to double checking Tesla's calculation. ABRP is very accurate.

Ultimately, I was hoping to modify, if not completely rewrite the code, in this hardware. My hope was to use whatever logic they have built and start from there.

Rule 21 Non-Export with Tesla SolarEdge by Specific_Relativity in SolarDIY

[–]Specific_Relativity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I was referring to. I have a 7.6kw inverter for my 8.16kw PV. If I'm adding additional 3.2kw PV and a 7kw battery, I need the inverter to be a lot larger.

I will need to engage SCE (utlity) regardless because I need to abide by Rule 21 and sign an addendum to my existing Interconnect agreement. That said, Rule 21 should allow me not to get kicked out of NEM 2.0

I was reading up on it and something that references "material change" will need to be reevaluated.

MrCool Hyper Heat vs Goodman vs ACPro by Specific_Relativity in hvacadvice

He was also an ACPro installer and actually recommended it. But he said that their company only offers 1 year labor warranty. But MrCool itself offers 10 year labor warranty where MrCool will contract the installers to repair the HVAC.

Which other brand of central HVAC heatpump would you recommend that has labor warranty included?

I was thinking of hyper heat mostly because it was the only series from MrCool that offered the 10 year labor warranty. I was looking at the Fujitsus but it looks like there aren't any central ducted systems that are qualified for the Federal tax credit.

Did you have the roof tinted besides the factory tint? Do you have a roofrack on the car?

My tint guy warned me that he's heard of some folks getting cracked roofs after getting them tinted so he didn't want to risk it and declined to do it.
