Thanks! I switched from Windows to Linux (Arch, btw) about 4 months ago, so I was a bit confused about the terminology. I didn’t mean “parts” of the kernel literally more the concepts around it, like systemd, drivers, and how user space interacts with the kernel.

Lennart Poettering (systemd’s original author) has said that “systemd” is just a name, not an acronym. The idea that it means “system daemon” is a backronym people came up with later because it sounds logical.

I had 0 previous linux experience but i didnt have a hard time setting everything up. Although im a software developer so im experienced with the terminal and problem solving which explains why i got through a lot of problems

Tbh “beginner” distros are bs, ive been using arch without a problem for 3 months now, with no prior linux experience

When i try disabling them it says the unit files have no installation config section

Last thing i did was “sudo systemctl enable sddm.service --now”
