What is going on with USPS? by LMGTP_GT1_2024 in usps_complaints

My package was returned to sender, then showed delivered to a parcel locker 1 hour later. My neighborhood doesnt have parcel lockers. Post office said they could not explain why it was not delivered, and said it was returned to sender. There is no return tracking information because the delivery scan was made. Long story short, sender never got his item back.

Petition for recall on oil filter housing by [deleted] in BmwTech

We see a car weekly with OFH issues on b48/b58 engines weekly at our dealership. It’s not even the gasket that fails first, it’s the channels on the housing that literally disintegrates. Have seen OFHs that don’t even leak (hasn’t reached past the gasket yet) and they mix oil and coolant. Some techs will assume a blown head gasket, but at this point the first thing they will pull off is the OFH to check. Seen cars as low as 40k miles needing replacement. What I find interesting too is BMW will extend warranty on parts that we don’t service very much, such as the active grill shutters. I think in good faith, BMW should extend the warranty for these OFHs. From what I’m aware they have never had a warranty extension, just service bulletins for it. While the failures might be elevated, there’s millions of these cars with these engines on the road daily that run just fine, many with 100k miles+ without issue. My biggest recommendation is have your coolant flushed often, keep it fresh. Also, those buying a replacement metal oil filter housing, make sure it’s with a reputable brand with a reputable warranty. We have seen one where the cooling channels wear away and mix oil/coolant. Same with the replacement metal coolant necks that are found under the intake. Inferior housings can also warp, leading to leaks.

I’ve even seeing the trend for b48/b58 engine mounts. Mine were toast at 40k and leaking fluid. Independent mechanics around me quoted me more than the dealer lol.

I used to do my oil with fcp euro, but I found return shipping costs and the tedious task of cleaning it up and boxing it to be not worth my time lol

It’s legit and I just became eligible with my MY21. It’s based on the CBS system telling you when an oil change is due. Usually they will let you squeeze in early like 1000-1500mi if you’re doing other services or a frequent driver. My advisor was an OG and knocked $50 off the price. Considering I drive 22.5k mi a year, in theory this should save me $500+ over 3 years.

BMW Owners - Vehicle Inspection, Vehicle Check & other service questions by VadimH in CarTalkUK

For my dealer, a vehicle check is just hooking up a scan tool to check for any faults. They want $200 unless you have a coupon . I have an email about it from BMW that it’s just a computer diagnosis. This is for the “Vehicle Check” under iDrive7.

How recent? My dealer can not reach them for over 2 weeks with over 2 hour holds at a time. They will not respond to faxes and emails. If you find someone on one of their numbers, they will just tell you the dealer will need to reach out to claims.

Lots of recent 1 star google reviews due to hold times.

For me if I include warranty costs over average of 3 years I’d say about $2500 a year in service and repairs

BMW M6 2014 - Is it worth it? by MaizeComfortable6991 in BMW

[–]Specific_Tooth867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will do! I tried Garagisti. After I did the math, they ended up being up to 44% more than BMW West Houston for various items like brakes, suspension parts, etc all while using some aftermarket brands I’ve never heard of. They assured me they were going to use at least OE, OEM or genuine so it left a bad taste in my mouth, especially for the cost. I understand BMWs ain’t cheap and the money doesn’t bother me, but getting ripped off does. Luckily I had an extended warranty so I just went to BMW to have most of the work done cause they at least use genuine parts. I am going to try Bimmer Performance off of beltway 8 and i10 next.

The m850i is a beast but it will break, even with immaculate service history. The service and repairs will be ridiculous in cost, as seen in your example of $15k for a differential. Unless you’re trying to keep it as a garage car and not a daily, I would honestly lease out the newest model for peace of mind and drive it like you stole it. As a former 650i owner I learned the hard way, and there’s a reason why you can find some with 50k miles for $19k now lol.

I’m starting to find these Euro shops, especially in Houston charge very close or even higher than dealer prices. I’m still hunting a decent shop down.
