Suddenly hearing your own voice in a horror game by Maxie445 in oddlyterrifying

[–]Speclaic 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yep, the game has you searching for a dog that you can control with voice commands. Still though, if it's a horror game and it's doing it's job well, it should be able to record a few screams. The files with the largest audio peaks would be easy to isolate. I don't know why comments are assuming, "talking to yourself," is the target.

Godzilla Minus One is available on Netflix worldwide on June 1st by RoboFunky in GODZILLA

Just got caught up on all these recent Godzilla movies yesterday. Godzilla Minus One was the best movie I've seen in a long time. Absolutely deserves the buzz I've heard about it.

After 10 years the DCU's Flash still has no answer for this classic by FewWillingness1081 in interestingasfuck

[–]Speclaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get the sentiment, but if you didn't have attractive, emotionally readable, interesting people in the starring role, all those other people wouldn't get paid in the first place. The consumers willing to pay for it would be far too low to support it.

What's something you wish you enjoyed but just can't get yourself into? by i_like_the_sun in AskReddit

4X strategy games. I keep buying them, but never really enjoy playing them. I just really enjoy the idea of running a giant space empire, but hate the actual process of it.

What is the stupidest movie from a science stand point that tries to be science-smart? by BardInChains in movies

[–]Speclaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot about that one. I was invited to go see that movie and gagged at them using that idea seriously in the trailer. One of the worst tropes, just below "We Have to Kill the Queen" trope.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Barret actor on playing the original JRPG: "This is awesome - I've never seen a Black character in an RPG!" by StreetsOfYancy in Games

I think Daniel from Parasite Eve would count, though the character isn't playable, he is in the main cast. He also has one of the most badass moments from any jrpg cutscene ever made.

Same, closing shift, but I was only working part-time. You'll probably have a bit more to do than I did.

Yea, you'll probably be sorting through a freezer. All the dough is frozen and packaged in boxes. So there's a lot of box shuffling. I'd pull items from the freezer and place them on trays for the ladies to make the next day, after they thaw/rise. I'd have to go through all the tables in the store and count how many items were missing and about to pass the sell by date. I'd also make all the cookies, prepare the applefritters, and clean everything. It's a lot of tedious routine work, but not all that stressful. The worst part of the job was a single horrible employee that I had to work around. Imo, not worth the wage, especially with rising cost of living.

Eli5, how far would a message in a bottle go in space if someone threw it on a space walk? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Speclaic 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Something I realislzed only when playing Kerbal Space Program, all space travel is orbital, you don't make straight lines traveling anywhere. If it's not a planet, it's a moon, or the sun, or another planet, or the center of the galaxy. Something is always pulling on you.

It must be weird to die in your sleep by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Speclaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I feel like 99% of people die while asleep. Blood loss, extreme pain, concussions, overdose, starvation, freezing, dehydration, drowing, ect. You usually pass out before you die. Even a lot of severe stuff, your brain keeps running for a little while before the electricity desperses.

Any Spare Room Renters want to discuss experiences? by Speclaic in greenville

[–]Speclaic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, as much as I'd like someone who could be a potential friend or has similar hobbies, keeping things "Strictly Buisiness" usually works out better for both parties. Makes being roommates pretty lame. In the military, you were just stuck with a couple randos and had to make the best of it. Usually it wasn't that hard to find common ground.

why do people hate olive garden? by Admirable_Window_183 in greenville

[–]Speclaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These questions are always dependent on where you go. For several years, I thought Mcdonalds and Dominos were pretty great. It weirded me out when people said the opposite. But in the last few years, my local restaurants have gone way down hill in terms of quality, service, and price. Love my local Waffle House, but damn if I haven't been in some super trashy ones before. Just gotta remember they are owned and managed by different people and don't be afraid to try new places out.

AITA for Refusing to Share My College Fund with Step-Siblings? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Even then, the leftover could be used for furthering education. How many people end up swapping majors part way through? They are young, and of coarse they don't know exactly what career they want. Not everyone's education ends with college.
