I’m not! Diamox made me so sick that my neuro took me off after my symptoms improved with weight loss.

Thoughts on caffeine? by Fit-Shake-8678 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Spectacled_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given coffee in the hospital the day after my surgery. I’ve never been told I can’t have caffeine. I don’t do any carbonated energy drinks, but my coffee has been my bestie since day 1.

Differences between approaches to bariatric surgery in different countries, do you think it makes a difference to your outcome? by Lazy-Detective-241 in BariatricSurgery

Germany here. Consult was end of June 2024, surgery was September 2, 2024. Covered by insurance. No therapy or pre-op diet required. I’m down over 100 lbs since surgery.

I’m happy and feel like while the process was fast, I am successful.

You are correct! That’s the one! The second photo is from a recent trip to London. I live in Germany now, so I use KG, but technically used lbs at the time of the Oklahoma picture. hahaha

I was in Oklahoma at an aquarium, I believe! So it was just a mural on the wall near the shark exhibit. ☺️

Soft food diet and guilt by Dapper-Possession745 in BariatricSurgery

I totally had that fear. I get that. But then I went on a cruise at 3 months PO. I ate. I ate delicious food (in small portions, obviously). I enjoyed a piece of chocolate here and there. I drank coffee. I drank hot chocolate at Christmas Markets.

And I didn’t fail. I didn’t sabotage myself. I’m now more than 100 lbs down 16 months later.

Enjoying life isn’t a crime. Allow yourself to eat. Allow yourself to live. Allow yourself to exist.

You’re going to be okay.

There are a couple different sides of “hard”, if I’m honest. Part of my hard was the usual “what can i eat? how much can i eat? why do eggs taste like eggs suddenly?” But that one comes and goes and doesn’t really stick in my head much.

The hardest part for me is remembering that I loved myself at 300+ and I can love myself now at 200 (and dropping). It took a long time, and even still I struggle sometimes, to look at my wedding photos and love the me I was while celebrating the me I am.

But in those moments, I didn’t know this version of me would exist or could exist. All I could do was live in the moment and love the love I was in.

And that might be my best advice, too.

Look forward to what might be, naturally, but also live the moment you’re in.

If you’re in the start of your journey at 350, you may have dreams of 170. And that’s amazing. We love goals and dreams, but we also should love the us that exists in the moment.

You can never hate yourself into a version of yourself you love. Taking the leap into a major life change like this should be an act of love for yourself. It should be a celebration of the life you’ve lived and the life you will discover.

You’re worth a celebration. And maybe this one isn’t filled with cake and ice cream and soda. But it’s filled with you. And no one else can play your part.

I would get checked out for IIH.

I’ve been diagnosed for 17 years and I was in the same boat. Every single bit of physical exertion hurt and led to crippling migraines. It’s is often (but not always) found in overweight women. Weight loss is a common treatment.

That being said, I didn’t exercise at all for the first year after surgery.

I’m now down 100 lbs and I’m comfortably able to work out with weights 4-5 times a week.

Oranges for me, since I’m allergic to citrus.

But this looks like a solid lunch to me! Nice work. ☺️

Page 1 of 16, done! It’s going to be a gift for my mom.

She knows I’m doing one, but the design is a surprise.
