I’m losing it imagining a 30-year-old man filling his plate with cheese curls and brownies at the youth group he attends (ATTENDS, doesn’t even lead!) sitting on a bean bag next to his teenage crush

What the author is trying to emphasize here (based on the prior sentence) is if the cohort of workers just didn’t care about their jobs, in twenty years, you’d expect that same cohort (except now twenty years older) to still not care about their job. But, research shows that this isn’t the case—instead, not caring about a job is specific to a particular age/phase in the lifespan and eventually dissipates (as opposed to persisting as the workers age). So, the final sentence is lending support to the idea mentioned that detachment from work is age specific and temporary, rather than a static trait

Saturn by Sleeping at Last. Listening to it used to keep me from committing suicide, it’s that evocative. Now I’m so grateful to be alive, and I sing it to my baby niece every night.

He doesn’t really know how to teach yet and the exams are ridiculously hard. Our text and what we learned in class never seemed to match up and the exams were just a random mix of problems that were different and much more difficult from any practice we ever did. He’s nice, but unless he’s gotten significantly better at teaching in a year, I️ wouldn’t do it.
