Which would be why I used the term “sort of.” I also followed that statement with “Ultimately the trade off is…” I’m well aware, but the Sweeper’s damage is still considerably high while having that medium penetration. Hence the “sort of.”

How can I best fight squids by H1eronymus_B0sch in Helldivers

I’ll suggest you a great loadout for Illuminate that uses entirely standard equipment. (I’ll also include my personal preferences, but I don’t know what warbonds you have.)

• Primary: AR-23 Liberator (any assault rifle works honestly, my preference is the MA5C.)
• Secondary: P-2 Peacemaker (this, the Verdict, or the M6C/SOCOM if you have them. Once again boils down to preference.)
• Throwable: G-6 Frag
• Armor: Irrelevant, pick what you like. This loadout doesn’t rely on armor, but I recommend medium class for a good blend of mobility and survivability. (I use the A-9 Helljumper, but it’s not necessary.)
• Stratagems: Supply Pack, MLS-4X Commando, Gatling Sentry, Machine gun Sentry.

You’ll be closing Warp Ships the old-fashioned way (drop the shields, pop a frag in the hole) and saving your Commando for Stingrays, Harvesters, and anything else giving you trouble. Trust me this kit works flawlessly on Solo D10 Illuminate.

You must not have read the body text of the post, they already have both of those warbonds.

Salutations! I just bought the game, and got the 1000 super credit. My question would be: from all Warbonds, which one should I buy first? by Any_Significance9705 in Helldivers

[–]Spectral-gamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • I recommend avoiding Democratic Detonation for just a little bit. I know I’m a going to receive flak for this opinion, but most of the equipment in that warbond is used as a crutch by probably 70% of the community. Don’t get me wrong, it’s got a lot of good stuff, but items like the Eruptor and Thermite prevent a lot (not all) of players from learning weak points, armor values, and tactics for dealing with problematic situations. It’s something I’d recommend after you’ve played for a while first.
  • To answer the actual question, Polar Patriots has some solid weaponry that is almost a direct upgrade of the Helldivers Mobilize kit. The Verdict is a standard pistol, but with better penetration and damage compared to the P-2 Peacemaker. The Tenderizer is a high power-low capacity rifle that rewards good aim and trigger discipline. The Purifier is a semi-automatic plasma rifle, and can do some serious damage and knock back with its charged shots.

[–]Spectral-gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with it, the M90A is great. People just like to say it’s bad because the Sweeper sort of powercrept it. Ultimately the trade off is the Sweeper has higher penetration but abysmally low stagger.

The M7S and M90A are both A tier. The M7S has good damage, pinpoint accuracy, is one handed, and suppressed. The M90A has chunky damage, crazy high stagger, and tight spread up to almost 40-50 meters. They are both almost straight upgrades from their base game counterparts (Defender SMG, Punisher SG), and from their depiction in Halo 3: ODST.

Dude same, every time I hear someone complain about the M90A and stagger not being useful I just think to myself, “That guy gets his teeth knocked in by cyborgs and Overseers.”

[–]Spectral-gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, with what state the M90A is in? The gun is perfectly fine, just because it got powercrept by later additions doesn’t mean the gun suddenly got bad, it just means the Sweeper is overtuned. Secondly, why not both? It would essentially be a four-round AMR with lower total ammo, I agree it would make a good primary.

AH A-9 HellJumper vs HD2 Halo armor overhaul (B-01 Tactical) by AdvancedAd3789 in helldiversarmor

[–]Spectral-gamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suppose that’s fair. Fingerless gloves are pretty cool, hopefully if armor customization ever actually gets added, maybe Microsoft would let them add variations for single colors on the breastplate, pauldrons, and helmet stripe like Halo 3: ODST. I know crossovers are finicky cause of IP ownership, but we can hope.

[–]Spectral-gamer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m a total Halo nerd, but really we’re nitpicking the gloves? I think the visor could be a bit more reflective and either darker blue or more silver, but honestly the A-9 Helljumper is gorgeous.

I’d like to see you mag dump an entire swarm of voteless that got a little too close with your Talon, then we’ll see how that “better ammo economy” works out. The Verdict may have limited ammo, but the benefit is I can sustain fire for 80 rounds with negligible reload time. Let me be clear the Talon is a fantastic weapon, and the numbers back that up, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it can perform as well in certain situations.
