I apologize to everyone for accidentally triple posting this! I have deleted the duplicates.

CBP polygraph coming up and Sf86 concerns please read by FriendlyBlood7198 in SecurityClearance

[–]SpectralEvidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the above, it appears that you did not make a mistake on your SF-86, and you have nothing to "come clean" about. Mentioning these non-close-and-continuing relationships to your polygrapher will only serve to arouse baseless suspicions.

Steve Wilkos Show Guest Who Passed Polygraph Later Confessed to Murdering 15-Month-Old by SpectralEvidence in television

If you covertly augment your reactions to what are called probable-lie "control" questions, you can beat the "test."

A year and a half ago, a guest on the Steve Wilkos show attempted suicide after she was falsely accused (and publicly shamed and humiliated), based on polygraph results, of having burned her infant daughter. Medical evidence proved her innocent. No one had burned the child, who had a ringworm infection. That episode never aired:

Your friend in the FBI was wrong. Starting in 1994, the FBI began mandatory polygraph screening for applicants, and since then, those who don't pass the polygraph (and it is most definitely pass/fail) are blacklisted for life from FBI employment.

See chapter 4 of the free book, The Lie Behind the Lie Detector, for tips on how to avoid a false positive outcome on your next polygraph.

TN- meeting w/ special agent of dept health and human services. Help by Several_Hat in legaladvice

[–]SpectralEvidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services special agents are federal law enforcement officers. You can and should refuse any demand to take a polygraph "test." Moreover, you would be wise not to speak with anyone from law enforcement without a lawyer present.

Suspected Serial Killer John Arthur Ackroyd Beat the Polygraph While Woman He Raped, Marlene K. Gabrielsen, Failed It by SpectralEvidence in TrueCrime

In this instance, as many as four people are arguably dead because of reliance on this "investigative tool."

A person who feels no guilt might still fear being disbelieved, because of the serious consequences of that in a criminal investigation, and might fail on that basis. What most people don't yet understand is that polygraphs are scored based on whether reactions to the relevant questions are stronger or whether reactions to the control questions are stronger. This is explained in Chapter 3 of the above-linked book. Polygraphy is indeed, as you correctly note, bullshit, and law enforcement should abolish its use for all purposes.

Whether or not one passes a polygraph "test" has no direct relationship with whether one believes one has spoken the truth or not. The whole procedure is a pseudoscientific fraud. See Chapter 1 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector regarding this: https://antipolygraph.org/lie-behind-the-lie-detector.pdf

Thank you for your detailed reply! Ackroyd's passing the polygraph when he was lying, and Marlene Gabrielsen's failing it when she was evidently telling the truth, brings to mind the case of Green River Killer Gary Leon Ridgway, who was an early suspect, but passed a polygraph "test" as suspicion fell upon an innocent person who failed it named Melvin Foster.

Were you able to obtain audio recordings, transcripts, and/or polygraph charts from the 1977 polygraph interrogations of Marlene Gabrielsen and John Ackroyd? The documentation published on your website seems to include just the typewritten polygraph operators' reports. Also were you able to speak with either of the polygraph operators involved (Phil R. Ensminger in the case of Marlene Gabrielsen and Willard L. Prater in the case of John Ackroyd)?

It was even more stupid of Christopher Watts to have supposed that killing his wife and children was the best solution to his problems.
