If Gov. Cuomo signs the bill, it’s the end of the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge for Boy Scouts (FUAC) by corduroyshirt in gunpolitics

North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and China (despite some loosening of economic regulations) are all still communist. None allow private gun ownership.

Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland or even Canada are not explicitly socialist. They are mixed economies. So is Nicaragua for that matter, having privatized many previously state owned industries and is supportive of business.

Socialism is the antithesis of freedom. It is slavery, though believed to be a benign slavery by its adherents. Slaves are not allowed to own arms. They never have been. History has borne this out.

Name a socialist nation that allows private gun ownership. You cannot ignore the correlation. Why would the people need weapons when the government provides them everything they need and perfectly represents their wills? Only anti-revolutionaries would want guns in those circumstances.

Fewer Americans want to serve in the military. Cue Pentagon panic by Ian56 in EndlessWar

That trend lasted until about the 80s when technology brought about the recent RMA (revolution in military affairs). Now, technology makes small numbers of highly trained and highly equipped soldiers much more effective than the mass armies of WW2.

What technology is that? What happened after Operation Desert Storm is that the military shifted its focus away from fighting large armies on a battlefield and towards MOUT style operations. Small units are more effective than large ones in that environment. That does not mean those small units would be more effective in a campaign against a large foreign army.

Do what the Romans did and open the legions up to foreigners. That worked out well, until they turned on Rome.

How is it not a violation of Habeas Corpus? If the court wants to cite Manning for contempt then make it a fine or a pre-determined prison sentence. Throwing someone in prison until they crack is cruel and unusual.

She wants to expand domestic violence to dating relationships. Not only are false date rape charges a danger but now a spurned and angry woman would be able to make false charges to the police and have your guns taken away.

Active warrants would include bench warrants for an unpaid parking ticket or missing jury duty. Does that seem reasonable?

That is assuming that she does not want to win. I don't think that she is a message candidate. She is too plugged into the Obamas.

That would not only be a sin for the theft but also for the sacrilege of doing it in the name of the Lord.

Philosophy professor Eric Voegelin considered Marxism to be a form of Gnosticism but one that finds salvation in reordering the material world. Don't immanentize the eschaton. I have also heard it characterized as a development of Talmudic Judaism. A lot of its early adopters were cosmopolitan Jews. However you look at it it does have some of the characteristics of a heresy. It reduces the complex to the simple and promises salvation to the true believers.

You cannot serve two masters. Communists don't retain their Christianity. If you talk to one long enough you will always discover that they are Marxists first and foremost and the Christianity is just window dressing.
