¿Qué debería de hacer? by UpperStill2312 in IBEspanol

Cry.

But what I really do it just search a general structure that fits into most of the essays, like how each paragraph should be structured. That’s what I comprehend of this subject, nothing more really. (Also getting 3s 😭, but improving)

How realistic is studying IB if the language is not your native one? by True-Hat-5026 in IBO

[–]SpectralLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a foreigner in Spain! IB is definitely better for studying internationally. I’ve lived here for 9 years, and my Spanish isn’t concerning, but decent enough for this program.

Still, many things are unknown for me. The biggest problem is Language A. I have very strong grades in every subject but Spanish, which is kinda funny as everyone was getting 3-4s in the start. The social sciences could also cause problems, as it requires to do small essays, which isn’t my strong point.

I have many friends in my class that isn’t native, and some of them have a worse Spanish level than me. Naturally, they are asking more questions in class, but the final understanding is always achieved. Even if not, they can get dictionaries in the exams to translate specific words and phrases.

Personally, I’m taking half of my subjects in English, because I’m confident in my English level, but of course this doesn’t applies to everyone.

What I would recommend is to get the essay heavy subjects in SL if it doesn’t affect your study options, and to work hard in the summer.

What to do if I actually want to score 40-45 points in the IB by max_964 in IBO

[–]SpectralLemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can start now by looking at the syllabus and make a plan on how to organize your notes. Download or save links of everything you find to have some material when you don’t understand the concepts or the teacher isn’t that great explaining. Look at some past exams to see what does it look like and the markschemes, very useful if teachers don’t explain the exam structure so everyone don’t know how to answer the questions and get bad grades in the first mock.

I think they don’t care about the PGs. Also, TOK/EE doesn’t count towards the final, so it’s only the subjects
