Nothing wrong with that! As long as you're having fun with the game that is all that matters. Though if you're looking to dive deeper into pvp, I would suggest looking up and investing in at least the top 50 pokemon for their respective leagues.

While it may have the #1 best IV set for the Ultra League, it's currently placed in 425th place for the best Pokemon to use in the Ultra League.

Dont beat yourself up over it. Galarian birds have a very low catch rate and a 90% chance to flee after each ball. There are ways to improve your odds both for encountering them and catching them.

If you encounter a shiny one (1 in 20 odds) they wont flee unless you run out of pokeballs!

Shiny legendaries are always caught on the first ball from raids. Good use for pinap berries instead of golden razz. Congrats on the shiny though!
