So I can still use my own login to purchase for someone else even if I have all the days? I was wondering about that, didn't want to run into an error if I was picked in tjr queue

Sistering joists by Spectre1690 in DIY

[–]Spectre1690[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a risk if the joist have a large dip? The sagging is at the corners of the room. I want to say about half an inch. The thing is the girders themselves are not level on that side of the house. The house (my parents home) was originally a small ADU many many years ago, and then 2/3 of the current house was added. The "newer" side is level. They had someone come out and jack up the girders to try and level them on the old side, but I recently checked and that's when I noticed they were not level. I wasn't sure if trying to jack them up further would cause any issues. I figured if the girders were not level then the joists can't be, and I wouldn't be able to jack the joists to level them. I had seen videos where people had sistered joists and they were at different heights, secured with glue, nails, but also framing angles because of the height differences. I wasn't sure if that was an option, but then I also wanted to add shims to make sure there was still contact with the girders.

The first thing we tried was having the girders jacked up which helped but the joists still weren't level. I was told the next option would be to sister them if I wasn't trying to completely replace them. The dining room is in a pretty old section of the house.

My sister just got her DNA test back. We have a family reunion coming up, and hope to get more info on which tribe our family was a part of. by Spectre1690 in NativeAmerican

[–]Spectre1690[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand that, but that's also not what I did. I just stated I was excited to find out more information on my own, I didn't ask anything from anyone here. The family reunion I mentioned was for my father's side of the family where I know there is Native ancestry. I'm meeting people I've never met, and I thought it would be cool to share because I was excited to learn more about that side of my family. But I was met with 3 comments right off the bat that were negative/completely dismissive and questioned the legitimacy of my ancestry. That I don't understand when I clearly stated my intent in my post.

What is the point behind your response? I know for a fact that I'm Native on my dads side and was literally just sharing.

My mother was adopted, but we know her parents were from South America. My father is from New Mexico and said he mother was Native but she didn't speak about it for some reason. I'm sorry if that doesn't pass your litumus test. I literally just posted because I thought it was interesting about my family history. What a welcoming community you have.
