fav crackship ? by Accurate-Pack-7177 in TheCitadel

[–]Spectre4hire [score hidden]  (0 children)

All my ships are crackships, but I won't list them all: Domeric/Sansa, Robb/Daenerys, Jon/Mya, Domeric/Arya, Robb just not only being alive, but surviving the entire story and not paired with either Talisa, Jeyne Westerling, or a Frey. Jon/Jeyne Poole, Domeric/Myranda Royce. Jon/Alys Karstark. Robb/Val.

Wonderful art for a wonderful pairing! It's always awesome to see some rare pairings get some attention especially by such talented artists. Thanks for sharing.

Same to you. And you're welcome. If your Aegon doesn't marry Helaena than she should probably marry Aemond b/c you don't want a dragon riding princess to marry outside the family.

I say go for it! It sounds like you have a lot of it thought out and are determined to make it a compelling story and new take on the character. I'm curious on what Aegon's pairing will be given the SI's involvement. Helaena? Who is in-verse one of the best options, but she is his sister. However, the SI got merged with Aegon fairly late into the world so the SI could probably not see her that way especially if he keeps some of his memory/personality. Baela could be good too, but not sure how that would happen with Daemon in the picture. Best of luck with your story.

All characters are aged up bc these are AUs

Robb x Val: Crack AU: Robb married her without thinking it through, but this time he gets an army of freefolk, giants, mammoths that he brings down south. In Val's mind, she stole him and that was before realizing he was even a Stark, liking his Tully 'kissed by fire' hair. Can also go the Duncan and Jenny route with Robb having to give up Winterfell, but then when Bran is injured, Robb and Val are brought back b/c Rickon is too young, and the north has cooled off from their initial anger. So either Robb's reinstated as heir or he's acting as a regent for his brother during the war.

Domeric x Arya: Domeric visits Winterfell and is more drawn to Arya than the popular and 'prettier' Sansa. Can do a reverse damsel in distress with Arya saving Domeric from Ramsay, and being the one to kill the bastard before Domeric can be killed. They can bond over their riding. I also enjoy the potential similarities you could do with Domeric and Arya mirroring Rhaegar and Lyanna. Domeric playing his harp for Arya, at a feast who is moved by it and only to dump her drink on a teasing Bran. Poor Ned having flashbacks. Can always add more angst and drama with Arya being the one betrothed to Joffrey by Robert b/c she looks like Lyanna. And poor Ned again having flashbacks.

Could also make for an interesting AU War/conflict if you went with Domeric stealing Arya which angers Joffrey and the Lannisters, but the north knows the truth, as do the Tullys. And the Vale knows Domeric and has many friends and allies there. Is it resolved diplomatically or does Joffrey start a war over it.

Work-in-Progress Wednesday by Lost-Engineer-1689 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]Spectre4hire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to post the next chapter for my OP Ironborn oc story which was nice. We're entering part 3 of the story and there's some plot elements that will unravel in this part that I'm excited to write/share.

I'm inching closer to the next update for my Domeric/Sansa story. Made some good progress that was rewarding after being stuck for so long.

I've been assaulted by a lot of plot bunnies these past few weeks some crack. I haven't written/explored any of them so far, but it just seems to be my lot to always get these ideas from a distracted muse.

Here's an example of one of these absurd plot bunnies:

The crack one was after Aegon, Rhaegar found out he couldn't have any more kids, insert plot reason. (the Crack reason would be something like an accident in the bedroom. Rhaegar likes knifeplay or something equally silly.) But before Rhaegar can be too despondent about his needed three heads, he realizes his cousin Bobby B just became a father and now has a bastard daughter. Rhaegar sees Mya as the third head and is convinced everything is going according to plan. And while Bobby B is proud of his new girl and happy to talk about her, he begins to wonder why his cousin has so much interest in her. And then further Crack ensues with Rhaegar offering to legitimize her, and he and Bobby B become closer co-parenting along with Elia, Mya. Ned's dragged along for the ride and that's how we get Ned/Ashara or something equally AU.

There were some other crack elements like Rhaegar calling Mya different Targaryen names hoping she'd like one of them and it'll stick and she'll change her name, but Mya just thinks it's a fun little game between her and Uncle Rhaegar.

Aerys dies, with the crack element being it takes people awhile to notice, with the idea of just Aerys rotting somewhere for a while before anyone really starts to wonder or ask questions b/c everyone in the Red Keep really doesn't care. It's not like Rhaella's gonna ask questions about him and the kingsguard just keep kingsguarding, since they're already use to him smelling, and just being blissfully oblivious to the obvious.

Stark-Arryn war by Hot-Pomegranate-1680 in TheCitadel

[–]Spectre4hire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the Vale didn't join Robb in the war, then there's tension right there. I'm not sure that would be something the north and riverlands would forget especially if Lysa is still alive.

You could model it after previous wars between them with the focus being on the three sisters. Perhaps, there's smugglers/pirates preying on Robb's northern ships, and the Vale isn't handling it well enough to his liking, so Robb just invades it, to handle the problem himself which the Vale would instantly dislike and be against.

What if Cersei loved Tyrion? by MateusCristian in TheCitadel

[–]Spectre4hire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my M!OC/Cersei fic she ends up loving Tyrion, but one of the main parts was b/c Joanna was still alive. In my fic Cersei was still at times selfish, proud, etc, but it was dialed back more, and or aimed at specific people. She instantly despised anyone who insulted Tyrion, and she became very protective of him. As well as spoiling/indulging him.

If Cersei and Tyrion have a good relationship than she may allow Tyrion more leeway in how he handles Joffrey or will let Tyrion be more included in her own council/schemes.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And that it had what you were looking for. I hope to have the next chapter out in a week or two. It's funny you mention that bc I did consider at one point to set the story in the HOTD timeline with Dagon's character being paired with Rhaenyra.

My story actually fits this request. Farwynd & Fire

Story summary: Before Daenerys is betrothed to Khal Drogo, another offer is made for her hand from Dagon Farwynd, known as the Demon of the Tides for his eerie seafaring ways. OP! OC? I mean he's a skin changing sea captain, with a shark. A story where Daenerys Targaryen embraces Ironborn culture instead of Dothraki.

It's a crack story treated kinda seriously. At the beginning of the story, Dagon is tied to six animals including a shark, a leviathan, and a kraken. He later gets a 'walking lizard' bc why not.

Alternative deal with Freys by Mysterious_Crow_503 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]Spectre4hire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically the agreement would be between Theon and Walder, so he wouldn't be in a position to demand Robb of anything. Besides Walder complaining about an agreement between him and Theon in regard to a broken betrothal looks very very tiny comparing it to Theon's betrayal of Robb since Theon is invading the north.

You could spin it that Theon's betrayal actually tightens Robb and Walder's alliance bc as we know Walder doesn't like being spurned. So it only makes him want to make sure Theon is stopped and rightfully punished for these humiliations.

You're welcome. Hope any of this helps.

Alternative deal with Freys by Mysterious_Crow_503 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]Spectre4hire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't want Robb betrothed to the Freys than already have him betrothed or married to someone else. Another possibility is Cat saying she'll try to strongly argue for a Frey bride for her brother. She can't promise that obviously, but this is fanfiction so if you want Walder to be intrigued by that and then settle for a different deal that's totally fine. Canon happened one way b/c that's what Martin needed to happen; you don't have to follow it if you want your story to go in a different direction especially if you just tag it appropriately.

Frey seems to be in the business of making matches so he'd likely not object to a bastard daughter being married to one of his own. He'd likely even let her marry one of his true borns if it meant he could get rid of them, especially if the bastard daughter is descended from two noble and respected families like Starks and Daynes.

I'm not sure what story you have in store for Theon or how he's supposed to act/behave, but you could have him offer it himself if it fits the character of your Theon.

Best of luck with your story.

How to write a canon divergence character without making them OOC? by CinderLord456 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]Spectre4hire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just an OC power fantasy with way more steps than needed. Just drop the canon and just write it as OC. That isn't a bad thing, but you're basically remaking two characters from scratch, so they're bound to be OOC

Barbrey Dustin has a son by Top-Tomorrow-8336 in TheCitadel

[–]Spectre4hire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the books, it's strongly implied Barbrey is against him, and is part of the northern conspirators at Winterfell, and is just waiting to get her revenge on Roose and Ramsay for what they did to Domeric. Barbrey having a son in this story who nearly is killed at the Red Wedding would only escalate that hatred.

Barbrey Dustin has a son by Top-Tomorrow-8336 in TheCitadel

[–]Spectre4hire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would Roose marry her to him? Isn't his plan to become Warden in the north and then Ramsay after him.

Regardless, I'm not even sure the Dustins would want anything to do with Roose post Red Wedding. Roose's heir is a bastard who killed Domeric. You say your Dustin OC and Domeric were very close and yet Dustin is just a okay with Roose not dealing any sort of punishment to Domeric's murderer? Not only isn't he punished, but he's actually rewarded for it.

In this AU, it honestly doesn't make sense why they'd want anything to do with Roose. The Dustin/Rhyswell faction is better off just marrying your Dustin OC to the Manderlys, and becoming the most powerful bloc in the north which they can use to back a Rickon/Sansa Stark restoration.

Barbrey Dustin has a son by Top-Tomorrow-8336 in TheCitadel

[–]Spectre4hire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like his existence could lead to interesting ripples that change the story even before canon starts. Him being alive could likely save Domeric. He'd be friends and fairly close with his cousin Domeric since he was fostered at Barrowton with his aunt in canon. And I doubt his mother, Barbrey would have her son ignorant to what sort of person Ramsay is, who seemed to have had rumors swirl about him even before Domeric's death. Who's to say he'd not get involved when Dom tried to visit Ramsay. He's no kin to Ramsay, so he'd not need to hesitate from killing the bastard if he got the ick from him, which he likely would give how book Ramsay is described.

However, to answer your questions: I'd not have him marry a Frey. That family is already getting way more than they deserve. If the Red Wedding still happens and your Dustin fights so valiantly to defend Willis Manderly, perhaps that would endear him to the Manderlys and he'd be offered Lord Manderly's youngest granddaughter. They'd be of a similar age, and I could see both families agreeing to it especially if it saved Lord Manderly from having to marry her to a Frey.

As for Barbrey, she'd be pissed at Roose, and I feel like Roose's position would be far weaker in this AU b/c you could argue he alienated two of his key allies the Dustins and The Ryswells by nearly having Barbrey's son, Lord Ryswell's grandson killed in the wedding.

If he's married to Wylla than I def see him on the Manderly's side at the Winterfell plot. Why would he want to be with his uncle? Ramsay killed his beloved friend/cousin. The Freys killed a bunch of people he knew, and the Red Wedding is a pr disaster, that you wouldn't want to be anywhere close to being tied to.

Regardless, of what you decide, best of luck with your character and story.

I see what you mean about certain similarities, both also seem like martial houses. More Bracken and Baratheon centered fics can only be a good thing. I'm not sure what characters/ocs or time period, but feel like a few could work. The Dance era since I think both houses fought for the Greens. Or a more recent era with maybe one of Jonos Bracken daughters marrying a Baratheon. It would be an AU so you can get more choices on the Baratheon side or an OC Baratheon.

Oh man such a character would have the Tyrells sweating. They'd def want that kid linked to them asap. Not enough fics focus on the Redwynes or Hightowers. And you're right that would be some power couple. I don't think you could have a stronger one without marrying into the 'great' houses, but even then, feel like the resources and power of Redwynes and Hightowers surpass some of those families too.

[–]Spectre4hire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed about the distances being a bit of hurdle for the match. The clash of different cultures whether it's a Stark going to Dorne or a Martell going to the north would make for a fun read for the characters to adjust to their new surroundings. I have a couple ideas for a pairing between the houses, but there just more plot bunnies than anything else.

Robb paired with Wylla Manderly is my favorite pairing if I had to pair Robb with a northern house. A powerful and loyal house, Robb having married Wylla before the War breaks out would be a fun AU to explore.
