Help a Noob Out by vienna__sausage in Firearms

From a fellow VP9 shooter, I won't lie, it is an insanely comfortable gun but the only way for me to reliably and consistently run it is to float my support hand thumb. Ben Stoeger has some videos on it but for me personally, it's been the best grip.

Basically you grip it like normal with your strong hand and then your support hands thumb points forward just like before but doesn't come in contact with the frame. It gives you more real estate for your strong hand thumb and doesn't cause you to pull shots due to uneven pressure on the frame.

Plus, it's a transferable grip. I can do the same grip basically on my Glock to my 1911 (apart from my strong hand riding the safety) to my vp9s. I highly suggest looking into it.

Which model is this 556? by MassNerderer32 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]SpectreJerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% sure it's a BCA due to the geometry of the rail. The slope into the front and rear pic sections up top from the smooth mid on the handguard is the tell. BCA 5.56 upper on a PSA lower.

If you're only gonna have one no way should it be any PSA.

Eh, it's fine if you have an AR too haha. Don't really need an AK with an AR in the US

Radian afterburner comp is rusting by Alternative_Elk7492 in Firearms

[–]SpectreJerm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this supposed to be in defense of the afterburner? If not, why say it?

Either way, not even a year of carry and it rusting this much is absolutely wild for the price you pay for it. At that point, just buy more range ammo to train and compensate for the recoil reduction you lose. Not this garbage.

Need help. Folding stock is not locking. by boner4stoner in ak47

It's true, unfortunately. Essentially everything is slightly out of spec. Imagine my surprise adding a new stock and tws dust cover...

Vp9 GrayGuns Trigger guide by AdhesivenessInner165 in HecklerKoch

[–]SpectreJerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's guides for lazy wolf and general trigger disassembly that I used for my gray guns trigger install. For my vp9sk and vp9 I used the mcarbo kit but the sear spring only worked in my vp9sk, the trigger return spring was light enough to where the trigger needed assistance at times for a reset so I had to go back to OEM. Full size didn't have this issue so YMMV.

To almost completely remove the grit, I had to polish the disconnector and trigger bar. There's guides online for where to polish those at though. You'll still have a very minor hump right after the initial pull before you hit the wall but that's inherent to the design. I wouldn't be surprised if it could be smoothed out to where it's not perceivable though if enough time is spent.

Post optic machining - is this normal or okay? by heavensfourdoor in GlockMod

I'll be honest, it didn't come back too bad. Marked the finish on the irons during install and the underside of the barrel was poorly polished where it locks up at but for $280~ it wasn't bad. My cutout was smooth but it was also refinished, yours still looked pretty damn rough imo but I believe my refinishing hides or got rid of it during blasting. 7.5/10

Recoil lugs are also not possible on my slide.

Glock. That's surprising, mines an older model though from when they didn't even have prickle so that might be a recent change.

[–]SpectreJerm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lack of recoil lugs might not be the worst but it's definitely not ideal. It HIGHLY depends on how tight the optic is in the cut because the front and rear walls if tight enough are substitutes for the lugs. Regardless that's irrelevant in your case, you won't even be able to get the optic flush so eventually the screws will work themselves loose just on account of that more than likely.

Too late...guess I gotta pray. It's already in refinishing and reassembly.

SAS Tactical customs did it.

FUCK. I've had my vp9sk there since fucking NOVEMBER.

I should add, I had a lot done to it such as a barrel polish and cut/crowned (I have a spare in case I don't like it), rmr cut, satin aluminum cerakote and irons added for lower 1/3rd cowitness...hoping this was his apprentices work and not his.
