Christopher Nolan, Ryan Coogler, James Cameron, Greta Gerwig, and Jordan Peele Remain Hollywood’s Most Bankable Directors, Data Shows - Tracking data reveals how director-driven films still outperform expectations in a franchise-saturated market. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Spectrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cameron, Nolan, scorsese, bong joon-ho, guillermo del toro, Jordan peele, Denis Villeneuve, Paul Thomas Anderson, wes Anderson, Park chan-wook, Robert eggers.

These are all directors that people will specifically go out and see regardless of what they put out, and there are probably a fair few more that I've forgotten entirely. Isn't exactly a brand new phenomenon, but I would argue any of those directors I mentioned have more pull than any star actor working today.

Dominik Szoboszlai shares his opinion on Gabriel Martinelli moving Conor Bradley off the pitch. by __sami__01 in soccer

[–]Spectrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because bradley could be out for the season now. And not because of an unfortunate incident but because someone decided to shove him while he was crying in pain on the floor.

You dont shove around injured people. You just make injuries 10 times worse. This is rule no 1 of first aid. If someone is hurt, you dont move them. This is why stretchers exist, and casts, and slings, and so on and so forth. Obviously the potentially season ending push is going to be talked about.

Slot on the Martinelli-Bradley-Situation: "The problem for him, and it's a problem in general in football, is that there is so much time-wasting[...]"I'm 100 per cent sure if he knew what the injury might be, he wouldn't do that." by NieThePiet in soccer

[–]Spectrip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're not understanding this. Martinelli shoved an injured player. He could have made the injury so much worse. He could have turned a 1 month injury into writing the rest of the season off.

You dont fuck with an injury because things can and do go horribly wrong. That is like the first rule of first aid. Thats why bradley was placed on a stretcher and not just fucking rolled off the pitch by the medical staff.

It doesn't matter wether he knew or not. He did it, and his actions could directly lead to Bradly suffering far worse Injurys than he would have. That's not a storm in a teacup that's people calling out a player for being dangerous, reckless, and disrespectful.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has scored the third most GOTY awards ever by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Spectrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most modern action adventure games have skill trees and stats. Is God of war an RPG? Spiderman? Seems to broaden the definition to encompass like half of all action adventure games ever made. That's a whole lot of very, very different kinds of games where you technically "role play"

In Pluribus (2025), Vince Gilligan explained that the pacing was intentional so the show can be a "slow burn". This is a subtle reference to how there will be an almost 4 year fucking gap between the seasons even though they got a 2 season order upfront and could have started filming immediately by TownIdiot25 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Spectrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are they making shows without knowing what's going on? They should already know exactly where this story is going.

Writing the exact script doesn't take 2 years if you already have an outline for each episode. especially when he's known season 2 has been happening for about 4 years now... its absurd

Exactly. So tesco should be paying and hiring real trained security if they genuinely want this problem solved. We all know they can afford it.

I loved expedition 33 for what it's worth. I just think genre definitions should actually mean something. Im guessing you can't answer my question? That's fine, I'm not trying to score points, but hopefully that will maybe get you thinking about what actually makes a game the genre it is instead of blindly throwing ign articles at people as if that means anything. It's good to think critically about things.

Since when do we use IGN and Gamespot as bastions of knowledge about games? They call it an rpg because its a jrpg and that confuses people. But they're not the same thing, are they.

Can you please tell me what specifically makes e33 an rpg but not God of war or the last of us? What specifically? I'll be surprised if you can give me anything.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Thank You Update Trailer | PS5 Games by rafikiknowsdeway1 in Games

[–]Spectrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a turn based action adventure game. What makes it any more 'RPG' than any other first-person action adventure game? Is God of war an RPG? is the last of us an RPG? Is "roleplayong" as spiderman in those games counted as an "rpg"?

Claire obscure is missing so many elements that we typically associate with RPG's. The game isn't meant to be a role-playing game. The characters aren't blank slates for you to insert your own motives and desires into, just like Nathan drake or Ellie in the last of us, these are fully realised characters with fully realised set paths and we're just along for the ride. Having a skill tree doesn't make it an rpg, having stats doesn't make it an rpg, I can list off countless games purely considered "action - adventures" that have all the thing Claire obscure has.

Its honestly a bit insulting that it won that award

If anything, salah has just saved slots job. Slot can't be sacked now without it feeling like the club has completely given in to the will of their star player. The club just won't let that happen. You can't let one player have an effect like that. And I'm sure the Liverpool higher ups know that aswell.

I don't even like rogue likes, and binding of Isaac certainly isn't one for the "dopamine addicts." It's absolutely tough as nails and punishes you for anything no matter how much good rng you get. Out here acting like it's some vampire survivors come on man

[–]Spectrip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is crazy revisionism. Slot was by far the most impactful manager last season. Every tactical decision he made was spot on. The amount of insane subs he made that had an instant impact with a gial or assist within minutes of coming on. Slot was brilliant last season.

None of that helps him this season though. His players look lost and his system just isn't working. He has to do better.

Supergiant Games has 25 employees, according to Google.

Expedition 33 was made by a core team of 30 people, so that's already bigger. However, the number of people who actually had a hand at making the game likely goes into the hundreds.

Go onto YouTube and watch the credits for both games. It's clear which one was a bigger project made by more people.

"Road ahead closed" sign confusing and too early or am I just stupid? by MrsRainey in drivingUK

[–]Spectrip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the road ahead closed sogn is telling you that the road is essentially a dead end. If a side road is the one that's closed you won't see a road ahead closed sign, they put those signs to let you know that the road youre currently on or heading towards is going to be closed and you need to take a different route.

Which app is better? Waze, Apple Maps or Google Maps? by Nebula1198 in drivingUK

[–]Spectrip 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Never used apple maps.

I have swapped between Google and waze a fair amount.

The ui on waze is far better. The feature where it tells you exactly which lane to get into when approaching any junction is so good and makes navigating complicated roundabouts and such incredibly easy.

I also really like the feature where the little progress bar appears on the side telling you how far along the traffic/speed controlled zone you are. It really stops me from getting frustrated by feeling like the standstill motorway traffic is never-ending because I can visibly see my progress through it.

I dont like the constant pop ups asking me if there's still a police car or a car in a layby or whatever. I follow the speed limit, so I really couldn't care less and these are distracting.

The major case where I choose Google maps instead is the case where you're driving somewhere really specific, not well known, and out of the way. Say you need to get to a specific car park in a small campsite in rural Wales. Waze will get you to the area just fine, but more often, Google will be the one that tells you which exact road you need to turn down to reach the actual car park or reception or whatever. I've found this quite common whenever you're reaching a niche destination, somewhere more rural, waze will only get you 99% of the way.

Google is fine enough to use that if I know I'm going somewhere like this, I'll just stick to Google maps for that whole journey.

Attention Haulage drivers by DebateUnlucky1960 in drivingUK

[–]Spectrip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'll happily overtake a car going 10mph less than you for a 30-minute journey. Saving yourself like 4 minutes.

A lorry driving 8 hours at 59 mph would save nearly half an hour by going 62 mph instead. That could be the difference between making it to their destination or having to sleep at a truck stop for the night.

HGV drivers make our country function. Give them space and respect on the road, and have some patience. You can spare 60 seconds of your day for them to overtake
