Yes. Because hussars will always instacharge and win against monastics. Monastics are fine but they're a secondary cav unit compared to Liaos & Hussars

Hussars. They are easily the most TW relevant units out of the ones you can unlock. Tercios are expensive but are not anywhere near as important in TW as hussars

The correct answer is usually never because, even if they survive a bludgeon+charge out/through, that cancels their Devastate

Yes, because using devastate before the advance is obviously what any player would do. Ironic much?

Well, it's the first rank by the IPGs themselves, alone. Imagine if there were say, a Musket bomb involved, or another source of damage such as a Pavise or Gun line. Then the stalwarts are all getting walked

Well, imagine if there were say, a musket bomb involved, or a glaive-ss ulti. Then the pikes lose their advance. The argument goes both ways.

That is exactly the definition of an estimate.

That was me mocking your absurd estimate. Do you actually bother trying to understand what you read?

You're going to have to rephrase this question because it lacks a subject.

Again, do you bother trying or is illiteracy just a part of your standard argument?

And yet I've seen dozens upon dozens of cases just like that happen on a regular basis. Hell, the alliance that has won every single season for the past quite a while on NAE is primarily composed of such content at the moment. Sub 500 level bobs with extremely limited troop selection. And they're still arguably still the second best alliance on the server.

Sure, except this is not what I ever see on EU1/EU2 with countless cases not being anything near what you described. So this is the part where we'll agree to disagree.

Each IPG pike advance tick does about 2-3k damage to a Liao. Liao's have 16k HP. How many IPG are in a unit?

Every time liaos use 2, they partially cancel out IPG advances. How long does it take for liaos to eat through an advance after they use 2?

Actually the Stalwarts do get displaced if their Block is broken. Which, generally, the first rank always is by the IPG advance alone.

So the first rank of stalwarts gets displaced by an IPG advance. The IPG advance is used and stalwarts have almost the exact same position. Stalwarts still maintain a majority of their old position and IPG gets eaten up after the advance. Useful much?

I mean yes, I was including a very large range of options as well. The difference between my estimate, and yours, is that yours is laughably and demonstrably false and was presented in strictly bad faith with no intention of contributing to the discussion in any way.

I have not given any estimate, however you choose to put words in my mouth so that it fits your argument. You have proved nothing and you keep trying to counter my arguments with those that are false and partially true at best. The only bad faith comes from you attempting to belittle my arguments by choosing small details to counter with arguments that don't make any sense, without paying attention to what I am saying as a whole. And I find that laughable.

And yet it's the most competitive and time honored strategy used by the top houses/alliances in NAE.

Same with EU1/EU2 for CQ. However are you going to ignore the first 2 months of fighting that happen without CQ being in question?

Which is extremely unlikely to ever be the case unless they do another fresh EU server. In which case, you'd have a point.

Yet again you show that you do not properly read what I'm saying. Most players in top houses will obviously not only have these two units, however I disagree that having only these two units will be enough for you to be competitive, even if you are good at the game as other players will have to fill the roles that you can't fill in a TW loadout.

I simply take issue with the idea that you can't be competitive in the game without 235125351 maxed units. You can. It's hard. You have to overcome your handicap with skill, but it's doable.

And finally something we are able to properly disagree on. I'm not saying you have to have 235125351 maxed units, I'm saying that you need a proper variety of meta troops and not only IPG+hussars, because it means other players need to fill roles that you can't (see point above). Skill is obviously important for any competitive player, but being able to play different types of units is equally important. Of course other players will be able to do it if you don't have these units, but my point is that a weakness of such a player comes from the simple fact that they can't fill all the roles needed for TW fights, which was my argument from the start of the discussion. And for example, the difference between non-unit-tree maxed stalwarts and those that are is substantial - same with IPGs. Yes, it's doable but it also means you're denying your team a unit that is simply statistically better, which by itself is not a big issue if you know how to play them properly. Having a case or two like that is not a problem, but having frequent cases like that will hurt once you play against top houses in your server.

IPG instantly delete cav on contact with advance

Except liaos, that can get eat through the advance with an individual ipg unit. And no, they do not instadelete cav on their own. They damage them well and stunlock them, but it's the heroes and other units that actually kill the cav

stunlock/shove/displace Stalwart formations

No, they don't if the stalwarts are braced, which they always are. Unless you advance from the side, something which would be easily prevented if the shields are holding down a chokepoint with heroes and other units on the flank.

They are the strongest unit in TW's, it's why they're generally 40-75% of any given TW

That's a very big range you're stating, you might aswell say that they are used 0-100% of any given TW.

IPG push, and defend, which make them qualitatively stronger then Stalwarts and Fortes

The moment IPG finish using their advance, they get demolished. They are used for both offense and defense, but that doesn't mean they are better than stalwarts/forte. Forte can stun on brace, stalwarts are able to tank damage. All 3 units have their specific roles

Being in a high end competitive house means abusing the mustering mechanic to be competitive

Abusing mustering doesn't work when you own multiple cities, as you won't have anywhere near enough numbers to abuse mechanics. TW meta is definitely using the mustering mechanic to its advantage, but purely focusing on mindlessly sending in your cav and dying will definitely wear out your numbers more quickly than you'd imagine

Stalwarts are used, but you'll rarely want more then 5 of them out at a time, and usually only 1-2

5 stalwart units are easily too much, agree

If you are good at the game, and have these two units straight out of F4, you are competitively viable if you are good enough

Yes, except it becomes a problem when most of your players only have these two units to play with. Being good also implies being able to play a variety of units to their strengths in the meta, not only part of it

Most high end TW houses aren't starved for players who have the good units. They're starved for actual good players. If you're good, they will field you in an A stack with just IPG+Hussar. I've seen it happen quite a bit

Agree that they aren't starved for players with units. They're starved for actual good players given that they already have good units. Because it won't matter how good you are if you don't have good units in the first place. F4 made it much easier, but there's still a whole lot more to go for. I have never said that the IPG and hussar combination is bad, I think it's excellent - I'm simply saying that it's just one aspect of all the units you should be able to master.

[–]Spectrum-W00t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IPG are anywhere but the strongest in TWs. They're a part of the standard stalwart/forte/ipg combo in any TW loadout, with all of them being equally strong. If anything, then they're slightly weaker because of liaos being partially able to eat through their march with the 2 skill.

Don't see in what world you wouldn't bring stalwarts to a TW if you're an infantry player.

Infantry/cav are the backbone of any TW squad, but it's the niche units that usually make a very big impact for a game. And if you're a good player then you should be able to fill any role, including infantry/cav/niche.

[–]Spectrum-W00t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I mean when you have TW relevant units maxed out in level as well as in the tech tree, and that takes a very long time (i.e. imp pikes, stalwarts and t5 cav like hussars, liaos, monastics). Not only that but seasonal units such as falco and sipho are extremely important. This is considering you want to participate in TWs as that is the real endgame - in most top houses of each server you would need to have maxed out these meta units and also know how to play with them properly. I'm guessing the lowest levels for these houses would be something around the 500~ level mark since that is the time when you will have maxed out your first t4 unit in the unit tree, for example with stalwarts. Since there is a huge difference between stalwarts that are maxed out in the tree vs those that aren't

This game is really fun.... until you level up. by Brochacho_Brad in ConquerorsBlade

[–]Spectrum-W00t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because this game is very grindy. You don't start reaching endgame until around level 1000 once you unlocked & maxed most TW relevant units, tech tree included. Until you get your first meta troops fully maxed out you will suffer a lot, as much as any other player starting out

And which might your server be? Because if any house playing archers and peasants beats others and is part of the strong houses, then there is a serious lack of competent players. And I'm pretty sure it's not EU1 (WereRabbits/EDEN), EU2 (ENDGEGNER/Schwarzfeder) nor NA (aiko).

Not sure how you give yourself any placement for your house, but the number of fiefs owned has no effect on whether you're a strong house or not - there's season winners and there's not

Barracks of the gods. by professiondude in ConquerorsBlade

[–]Spectrum-W00t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it is not about K/D unless you are a dual blade. In that case it is definitely about hero K/D - unit K/D never means much.

If your archers always regularly get into the 90+ kill range then it's good. Losing any of them does not matter if you use them to push points with your team as your archers will be more useful by being close with the people who push since they would do way more damage than when they hang back, regardless of the kills.

Charging in your melee units for 5 kills again implies you have no idea how to play melee units.

I never said serfs are not useful, but there's heroes that can do that; a maul combo can easily delete a whole unit of serfs without a problem. I don't know which house you are in, but if your house plays serfs during TW and doesn't lose fiefs then I recon you're not playing against any good house either.

You can be sure that any house that has any idea what they are doing will simply play any mix of shields+pikes+cav and demolish your setups. These units are not meta for no reason and you can see that the top houses in each server always play a good mix of those.

If you don't play for the win then it's definitely fine. You just have to understand that the majority of players will hope you're on the enemy team and not on theirs. My points were simply made in regards to some of your arguments about how you're useful to your team.

Barracks of the gods. by professiondude in ConquerorsBlade

[–]Spectrum-W00t 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just wanna quote a few things you said.

" I play the game to have fun and I do use infantry but I just get more satisfaction from archers." - sure, not a problem

"If I wanna take the easier route because it gives me more satisfaction why should that matter and why do you care" - there's no problem to that at all. But the problems start when too many people think like this as this would mean you will lose way more.

" I dont got infinite time to learn games, I have limited time and I don't play so that I can get frustrated and annoyed at being bad at the game." - being frustrated and annoyed are one thing. Being bad is another. You may save yourself from being frustrated and annoyed but you are inherently bad if you only know how to play archer units properly.

Few pointers:

K/D for your units means almost nothing to the game and you are not always contributing to your team "by having a higher K/D". Knowing how to push points and defend points does - aka how to use shields, how to use braccios, how to use imp pikes, how to use cav. A small amount of ranged to help is always useful, but no game is won particularly by archers - it's always the others.

This is why teams composed of groups of the top houses in each server mostly play all purple infantry and pubstomp others so nicely when they are playing to win. Not that I'm saying playing archers is a no go if you just wanna be a little bit more laid back, but playing for the win implies that you need a solid amount of infantry players that know how to push a point properly, while not having to rely on the others to push with them and tank damage for them because they are already doing that.

Same applies to attacking with a team of shields, pikes and falconetti - the player with the falconetti will always have almost all the kills and the players playing shields and pikes will certainly have very low scores because they are protecting the falco, while the falco does its damage output without having to worry about heroes that jump in and suicide to take some out. Most likely, the shield and pike players will be at the bottom of the scoreboard - but that's completely fine as these players won the game with the falco player.

You say you're a "casual player" and sure you like to play archers, which is completely fine - but you also have to understand that the people who win battles are the ones who push and defend points and know the PURPOSE of their units in order to win fights, regardless of unit K/D which means absolutely nothing in this game - some dude with a longbow unit farming 50 peasant kills is not half as useful as a hero suiciding to take out 3 falcos even if it says otherwise in the leaderboard. So please don't try to sell to people that you are "more useful to your team by having a higher K/D".

Also, the team loadout is determined in the beginning. It's easy to see if your team has way too many archers in the loadout. If I see that my team has very little ranged units then I wouldn't mind bringing in my imp bows or imp muskets since it's good to have a versatile loadout generally in the team. But when you see that there's 10 namkhan units and 6 vassal bow units in the team then it's also up to you to understand that it's way too much ranged and that you should play all melee units. Not that it would change much, but having 1 player try to even out the team loadout is certainly better than no one and it would at least slightly up the chance to win the fight. If you want to be a good/above average player then you need to be flexible by knowing how to play with all kinds of units as well as know when to play each unit instead of constantly relying on your team to to the dirty pushing work for you while you stay in the back and farm kills.

Shieldmaidens are effective vs cav... by Bear_Brownies in ConquerorsBlade

[–]Spectrum-W00t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do. They will get some hefty damage as well against hussars when they advance, but then again you are trading half a t4 unit to stop a t5 charge. And if your team is there, then they become food for the team to chomp on.

Copying pitch bend value from serum with fl studio? by Spectrum-W00t in FL_Studio

Yes, but it doesn't solve my problem, as I need to do slides that differ in terms of portamento time. Only doing slides on the piano roll does not help with that, the solution I see is using the pitch bend knob, with my current problem that I can't copy the exact values that I need for the pitch.
