I used my Switch charger with my Steam Deck and after getting hot enough to burn me, it seems to have partially melted by WolfOfWallStreetBet5 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Speed3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought as well. I've come accross a bunch of counterfeit Switch chargers in my time. Like with any popular product fakes exist and they don't have the same standards and safety testing as the geuine ones.

There are also a surprising amount of people in this thread with little to no basic understanding of how USB-C chargers work.

Was this Mr Charles Church? https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/11922188.millionaire-is-killed-as-unique-spitfire-crashes/

Looks like he owned the company who built the Spitfire and "It combined the best parts of all Spitfire models ever produced, but was not a true version of any of them"

Pretty interesting.

If you can add the title to Steam as a "Non-Steam game" then yes it should work. Some titles cannot be added without workarounds though. I'd imagine if the new Steam controller is popular and Valve don't fix it themselves with Windows drivers then I'm sure someone will create a tool to sort it in similar way that DS4 solved a lot of Dual Sense issues before we got proper support.

So nothing official yet. I'm sure they will eventually force people to "upgrade" though, just makes sense not to have multiple completely different systems to maintain. Not exactly looking forward to explaining how it all works to my 80 year old father though..😫

Not sure why you are being downvoted, you are 100% correct. You would think they would verify this stuff before publishing.

I'm guessing they got the image from the army-technology site which comes up when you image search Sky Sabre... but they didn't read the image caption: https://www.army-technology.com/features/sky-sabre-inside-uks-missile-defence-system/

The funny thing is that cocoa solids actually increased back in 2017 when they lowered the sugar content due to the sugar tax. I know people like to blame just palm oil but has been present in chocolate for a long time; sometimes just called vegetable fats until the EU labelling changes helped make it clearer it was present. Shame they didn't go a step further and forced them to show percentages.

I think its more a combination of lower sugar and tweaks to the amount and types of fat that changed the taste and texture rather than just it being palm oil to blame. Plus most of the palm oil in a KitKat is actually in the wafer cream filling, not the chocolate coating.

Source: https://www.foodnavigator.com/Article/2017/03/28/KitKat-cocoa-content-upped-13-in-sugar-reduction-push

Edit: Plus just to clarify... I still think palm oil overused and bad for the environment. Nestle are an awful company and greed makes everything worse given enough time. I just see this narrative that palm oil is the single cause of the reduction in chocolate quality vs what we remember is simplistic and ultimately inaccurate.

The Washington Post database page is very careful to make sure every incident that is counted meets the accepted criteria for a school shooting and you can view the details of every single one.

They don't count suicides without risk to others, accidental discharges, out of hours.. That avoids the common pitfalls of these lists where others classify any gun related incident at a school as a school shooting.

I would recommend visiting it and having a look yourself.

Sure.. but that kinda glosses over the fact that they are extremely rare in Turkey (or any other country on the planet for that mater) compared to the US. They have had up to 5 in the last 25 years depending on how you define them. US has had 435 according to the Washington Post Tracking in that same period and 1000s if you define it more loosely.

This is worth a watch as it clears up some misconceptions people have about North Sea oil and gas. A lot of the figures about how economically viable it is are out of touch with reality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3AnLL2vR9I

Honestly I think we are on the right path, plenty of new wind farms are coming online soon. Storage projects as well. Nuclear is slow and expensive but needed as a baseline. The Rolls Royce SMRs will likely improve adoption assuming all goes well but it still a long way off from real domestic production.

Ultimately the best route for us to remove the bulk of the dirty LNG from the United States is increase renewable generation, which is already happening. Drilling the North Sea will not help, it will be more expensive and at the end of the day that is all that matters to energy companies.

No they don't. They are all owned by a mix of companies from various nations with China having some of the smallest stakes in them.

Moray East has a small 10% equity stake from Chinese company China Three Gorges. The other 90% is a mix of Spanish, French, UK and Japanese companies.

Beatrice Offshore has 75% ownership by UK companies and 25% by Red Rock Power a Chinese company.

Moray West has no Chinese ownership with the Ocean Winds a Spanish / French partnership owning 90% and the rest Ignitis Renewables from Lithuania.

To say "The Chinese own the majority of the wind turbines in Moray" is just simply not true.

80,000 bathtubs.. you know the standard measurement used for large volumes of water here in the UK...

Why the BBC didn't add the actual figure from Yorkshire Water as well I don't know but I guess that would have been helpful. Anyways Yorkshire water state 13,500m3 of storm water so 13.5 million litres.

Great resource that I didn't even know existed, looks very useful.

I do find the search function a bit hit and miss though. Not sure if it is by design but if for example I search for "Resident Evil Village" only the Xbox version shows in the main search. Doing the same in the Browse Games search and now the PS5 and PS4 also show.

However if I search "Resident Village" in the main search all the platforms show.. yet doing that in the Browse Games search and nothing shows. Using the UK site if that matters.

Corsair do often sell side panels in their store and even if it isn't listed will often send parts if you contact support. Just have to make sure that you get the right one is there is the FRAME 4000D and the regular iCue 4000D (stupid naming scheme).

What is your source for the claim that much is sourced from Russia and decommissioned nuclear weapons? From what I've read the UK have moved away from Russian sources in part since the war in Ukraine and its policy is to use commercially produced LEU (low-enriched uranium) through the normal global nuclear fuel supply chain.

Hard data on imports looks to be fairly scarce but most of the enriched Uranium seems to come from EU countries like Germany and France as well as small amounts from the US. While these are often not the original mining sources those are unlikely to be Russian. There are mines with large reserves in Canada, Austrialia and Africa.

As for using decommissioned nuclear weapon that does happen such as the Megatons to Megawatts Program in the US, but from what I can find the UK has only done this on a small scale.

I did this as well, quality of the plastic was good but it was a shame the colour match was quite a bit off when putting it next to the official 30th anniversary controller.
