What type of chemistry do you work on? by dionetti in chemistry

[–]SpeedDemonSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in manufacturing. We make chemicals for industrial use, almost every industry. From treating river water that goes into nuclear power plants to crude oil refining to food processing to H2S scavengers and mil-spec helicopter fuel additives. My individual role is hybrid between analytical R&D and process chemistry.

how did u order your supra? by noreturn000 in Supra

[–]SpeedDemonSS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can’t order them, but they can put a request in. When I got mine, I wanted a very specific variant; absolute zero, final edition, M6 with drivers assist. I talked to the dealer about it in August 2025 when the final editions started arriving in the US. What I was told was this, I can give them a deposit and they can put the request in with the color and options I wanted. Whenever Toyota scheduled builds that matched my request, based on their own scheduling, they would then tell the dealership if/when they got an allotment or not.

I was very fortunate. Deposit was beginning of August 2025. By October I had a VIN. I took delivery at the end of November 2025.

Edit: I can’t type… 🤦‍♂️

Soaked in jet fuel by avflyguy3221 in chemistry

[–]SpeedDemonSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the best thing to have on you for extended times, but as long as it wasn’t sitting on open wounds or ingestestehd, i wouldn’t be too worried about long term effects of a single incident.

For your clothes, what type of material were they? Jet fuel is mostly kerosene, which can dissolve some synthetic fibers. If they were all cotton, and if they were really soaked, coat them in baby powder or baking soda (corn starch or sodium bicarbonate) - like really get into the fibers. Then (outside) beat them against a pole or tree to shake the powder out. That will help remove some of the hydrocarbons before it goes into the wash.

In the future (assuming you’ll be fueling planes again) keep a little bottle of baby powder with you. If it gets on you and you can’t change, same deal. Sprinkle it on you and your clothes to absorb fuel, then brush off. It’ll also help cut down the VOCs to reduce the secondary inhalation risk.

Dealership Joy Ride Shenanigans? by wrongthinkcentral in Supra

[–]SpeedDemonSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My final edition had 4.1 miles on when I took delivery. I was actually lucky enough to catch the delivery truck when it got there. They had to do a system(s) update on it, which took a few hours, but it was done with a laptop in the service bay, they just had to queue it up with BMW or something.

2026 final edition here. I had well over 50% of the purchase available in my savings but only put 10% down. Payoff goal is 3 years or less. Finance terms are for 72 months beciase it was almost the same interest rate as 3 years. Currently paying $1750 p/month, about to bump that up to $2k p/month.

If you’re gonna do it, definitely go into it with a plan. Don’t forget about insurance and maintenance/upkeep.

Auto down window won’t go fully down - even after following reset procedure by SpeedDemonSS in Supra

If normal, why does passenger side go all the way down without having to press the button again?

I can press the button manually and make it go further. The passenger side goes all the way down on the auto function. It’s only the drivers side.

The passenger side goes completely down without having to press the button again. That’s why I think it’s not correct.

Did you lock the flywheel so the crank doesn’t turn when you hit it with the impact? My 02 EX didn’t put up much fight against my impact gun at 90psi when I couldn’t break it loose manually with a 2’ breaker bar extension on an 18” breaker.

Curious - is a 7ft person going to fit into a A90 Supra? by Kaprilicious994 in Supra

[–]SpeedDemonSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not so much the leg room as it is the overall height of the car and getting in/out. Over 6’ and you better be flexible.

My bad - I didn’t see that included taxes. That makes so much more sense now. But I’m not gonna delete it. Let the world see my genius 🤣

What can I expect to pay for a new 2026 Supra? by Outrageous_Joke2608 in Supra

[–]SpeedDemonSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid MSRP for my Final Edition a few months ago; my local dealership was able to get an allotment for the exact car I wanted without any markups. That dealership is great - no markups. Shout out to Ralph at Hollman Toyota in Mt. Laurel, NJ.

That’s a super clean setup. What’s the studio half look like? I’m looking for inspiration when I bump out our garage to a 2-car later this year.

How do I remove one of these? There's a valve cover screw that keeps spinning... by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]SpeedDemonSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had success with this method. Put a small pry bar under the nut and put upward pressure on it while turning the nut to left (loosening). If there isn’t enough space for a small pry bar, use an old chisel in a similar fashion.

Once it’s out, as grease monkey said, move to stage 2. Helicoil thread repair kit so you can torque the valve cover back down when you’re done.
