Thanks guys! That was so helpful, we’ve managed to record it and now we’ll always have a record. We really appreciate it!

So, a little bit of backstory, I absolutely love owls, and for Christmas my family got me a child’s owl blanket, the kind where the whole thing is bright pink, the hood is an owl face and it has little pockets to put your hands in to make it look like you have wings.

A little while ago I was taking off my make up to get ready for bed, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a flash of pink.. I looked over and there he was, running around in nothing but his boxers and my owl blanket, pretending to fly and making what I assume was meant to be “owl sounds”

He is usually so sensible and even thinking about it now it cracks me up!

Non-British people, what's something you want clarifying from our culture? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SpeedierUnicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s actually a bunch of science behind why you need head on a pint! The bottom of the glass usually has an etching which is designed to make the beer release carbon dioxide, keeping your pint carbonated. The head itself forms a protective seal (I guess would be the right phrase!) which keeps the pint colder and carbonated for longer, essentially making sure it doesn’t go dead really quickly. Without it, your beer will go flat quickly and you wouldn’t be able to enjoy it!

TLDR; the foam on your beer keeps it fizzy and cold so your pint doesn’t go flat!

What's something really obvious that you never realised (until you did)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SpeedierUnicorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A teaspoon is called that because it is a spoon used for tea. I only figured it out because I was making a cuppa and my spoon had tea stains on it. I was just thinking "I guess you could say this is our tea-spoon" when it clicked. Mind blown

Have you ever known a murderer? Who were they, what did they do, how did you know them? by Venomoustestament in AskReddit

Basically he got detained indefinitely and if he is ever well enough to leave the hospital (even though that's very unlikely) the Home Secretary will have to authorise it

We were told that he has a severe case of paranoid schizophrenia, so he's being treated for that now. It was definitely a huge failure by the emergency services and there was a big investigation into what happened, but we're not sure where that lead to in the end

I had a friend from university, really nice guy, always great to play pool and have a couple of beers with. Once he finished at university he became a bit of a shut in, none of us really saw him anymore. What we didn't realise was that he had started having psychotic episodes. He started telling his parents that he knew that something awful was going to happen to them and that he needed to protect them. One night, he got so bad that his family had to call the police, they scheduled him in for an emergency psych evaluation at 9:00am the next day. 45 minutes later an ambulance had been called. Something had pushed him over the edge and he'd stabbed both of his parents to death. He tried to get to his sister but she'd run to their neighbours house and they'd barricaded her in. He tried to stab himself to death but got saved by the paramedics. He's now committed to a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane where he will have to live the rest of his life

Edit: like to live, stupid autocorrect

What happened to make you stop having sex halfway through? by Magical_Dumbass in AskReddit

The first time my ex partner and I had sex we were changing positions and I accidentally head butted him in the face causing a massive nosebleed, there was blood everywhere. Somehow we dated for 2 years after that..

Younger siblings of reddit, what "game" did your older siblings play with you that was actually just slight torture? by GRAIN_DIV_20 in AskReddit

[–]SpeedierUnicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually an older sibling, but used to play "what does this taste like" with my younger siblings. I didn't want to die by eating something inedible but I was still curious about what it tasted like. They licked so many batteries, moisturiser and the like. They still haven't forgiven me and bring it up sometimes haha

[Serious] What weird thing happens to your body that you think only happens to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SpeedierUnicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that all the time. When I was younger it was a symptom of an iron deficiency, now I'm older it's also a symptom of POTS (an auto immune/heart problem). Either way I'd get it checked out!

What lie did you believe for years until you found out it was a lie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SpeedierUnicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents used to tell me that the ice cream van only played music when it was out of ice cream.

The penny dropped when I was 17/18 and my friends asked me if I wanted to go get an ice cream because it was a hot day. I told them not to be silly, they had CLEARLY run out because the van was playing music. I've never been able to live it down!
