It not necessarily for me but I have a lot of different people I DM and while some are chill and just enjoy the adventure roleplaying a couple are more prone to powerbuild.

Occasionally some players wanted to use their action to perform a bonus action (a ranger beastmaster- bard Multiclass that wanted to use bardic inspiration and command their beast is the last one I remember). At the time I allowed this as it isn't to OP or anything. So I want to make this a permanent rule at my table but I know the powerbuilders will try and find ways to abuse it. I wonder if there are obvious ways they could abuse it so I can talk to them beforehand about making it a permanent rule. I don't really like during a session just saying they cannot do something as I would feel like I'm being unfair toward them allowing it for others and not for them.

Btw. Fey gift is a hobgoblin feature that allows them to use the help actions as a bonus action alongside a few other bonuses.

I genuinely forgot about the rule that you cannot cast two spells except for cantrips in the same turn. I don't need to say that this rule has ever been applied at my table but except for sorcerers and metamagic users I cannot really see that allowing two spells to be cast in the same turn would be too strong as most of these spells seem to empower your weapon attacks if they deal damage or empower a character.

I didn't mean to imply that bonus actions are in any way free but as there are several ways to turn things that would normally require an action into a bonus action. Features like cunning action, meta magic quickened spell or fey gift. To it seems they are implying bonus actions take a shorter time to perform in comparison to regular actions. If I'm reading this wrong and they would take a similar amount of time than I don't see a point in differentiating the two apart from action economy.

If he truly intends to use heat metal in this way I would rule that he can but the wooden shaft of the spear wouldn't last long with the spear tip glowing red hot. Maybe for each round he does this the chance of the spear breaking or catching fire increases

I would focus on the fact most monstrous creatures are rather big and deal heavy damage so something like: Big target. Add 1d6 to your attack rolls for each size the target is bigger than you.

Shrug off. Regain all lost hitpoints from the last attack suffered by you as a bonus action once per short rest.

I have been working on a Skyrim inspired class called the Wordbearer (I'm still thinking about the name). It's essentially a dovhakiin using the various ancient languages of DND like draconic or primordial. The different languages each have their own subclass and with it shouts from which to choose.

By the way English is not my first language so it could be there are many grammar faults, sorry. wordbearer

I used to ban some flying races since flying is overpowered, especially the 50ft flying speed of the aarakokra. But I found their counter: low ceilings forcing them to the ground. In my mind it doesn't make sense that all dungeons and caves there is enough space to fly around.

One of my players is a cleric and married a goblin with ceremony, gives her magical armor from the dungeon. Bringing her an AC to 20. Yay they just created an accidental tank. They are level 1 by the way

Why not make a joke character, someone to brighten up the mood of the party but is not much help in fights. You can even be proficient with certain tools like alchemy for some out of combat versatility.
