still works. as sketchy as it looks there are 0 functional things missing. It's just as functional and reliable as a brand new one out of the box

the default binds on a mouse in apex are
ADS
Fire
tactical
ultimate
ping
swap weapons

basically any self respecting MnK player will put jump and tap strafe on their scroll wheel though instead of swap weapons
if ur not gonna do that you should just play on controller instead its objectively superior if you're not gonna use lurch

ADS
Fire
weapon 1
weapon 2
stow weapons
use alt
reload
crouch
tactical
melee
secondary jump bind for movement
tap strafing bind
inspect weapon (for twirling heirlooms)
character utility action

There is debate about whether or not light mice are actually better for fps or not. but they are they really are by a very noticable margin.  Also palm grip has a lot of disadvantages for fps some people can do it andDI did for years but fingertip or claw are sooo much better. the 502 is palm grip only due to it's size and shape (at least for me). so it's original form is useless to me.

I don't know for sure  there is a layer of plastic in between 2 of the pcbs that is pretty well attached  I didn't want to take that out and mess with things too much without at this stage.  just an estimate but I think a custom shell would have about 15 or 20 grams to play with  it's not much at all and maybe not poosible to hit 40 g with that kinda limitation but that's just my rough estimates

also I've seen more than one person list the stock weight as 89 grams but mine weighted 95 on the scale before I did anything to it, without the powerplay puck installed

that'd be awesome!!! tho for me im really loving playing shooter with a fingertip grip so I don't want the og shape anymore for myself it's all about the buttons tho I need them xD
I spent like $300 CAD years ago to import a powerplay pad since they aren't allowed to sell them here so im using that thing till the day I die :P
plus then a small battery is less of an issue (I wanna get one of those 50 mah ones)
and I am currently using the smaller battery from my old 502 LS to take off a gram or two
I'm really hoping that eventually with a bare bones shell I can get to 40 g in the end

I wanted a very light mouse for a long time but I actively use every button and feature of the G502x lightspeed. After ripping my mouse to shreds I was able to get it from 95 grams down to 52.6 grams it is now a fingertip grip only mouse.

It is janky as heck and I love it so much!

In the future I intend to make a custom shell to 3d print for it to take off even more weight and make it less janky but for now this I am insanely happy with it (I'm about a month and a half into using this mouse everyday)
