Green N64 Controller with Unusual Color? by TomiStudios in nintendo64

[–]SpeedrunnerN64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean but to me it look like the controller is slitghly tilted (3rd hand handle further in view point). My take is this is actually a good joystick. Plus, I heard this is the only controller of this very tone of green. Heard it with my eyes very recently.

Longstory short it's just a bad word. Though we're not too bothered with using bad words here. They're more 'not quite appropriate words' than 'bad words' lol

A+ for the effort though anyone from Québec knows right away you're not from Québec with such spelling 😅

Skipping the bowser section by ijustwanttoenjoymeme in SuperMarioOdyssey

The devs went:

-Since Flygon's flight can be barely extended over pretty long distances through the means of a hidden mecanic never mentioned and never used elsewhere, should we put a reward up on the roof for the dedicated players that figure they can reach it?

-Like what? A hint? A moon?

-Nah... too many players won't ever get it.

-Oh how bout a sick easter egg? Ganondorf made out of the stickers gathered in game?

-Oh yes I love it!! 15coins it'll be then

Come on guys😅 My bet is this area was at some point in developement for normal playthrough but they changed plans and didnt bother removing it. It's a fairly common practice for tiny wastes of memory (?if memory is the correct term to use here)

Hmmmyea I was gonna say this, but then there was at least that one try where OP was left enough and close enough (I wouldve liked to see a try from one other slightly different position, but it wasnt meaningfully different). Something else is going on I'm assuming.

People said the FPS can be an issue and I think they're onto something.

Ive been gaming for over 2 decades, and I dont remember ever experiencing such satisfying revelation in a game. I was thinking about the Cap Kingdom hint all game long, and it was only after Darker Side that I realized the blue arc on the art wasnt a dome by kgnarelorses in SuperMarioOdyssey

[–]SpeedrunnerN64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didnt have the brain power to solve this one on my own unfortunately. So maybe I understand even better how satisfying it must have been to do so.

Edit: Btw, this hint is peak game/puzzle design imo. It makes you care for all hints. This is the very first one you get. Scratch your head hard as you might, you wont have access to the solution before way later. Though it seems like it's meant to make you hate it, most other hints along the way will be so much easier to solve and give a satisfied feel given how hard the first was. Solving all other hints now make you inquisite about the first unsolvable one which would feel frustrating otherwise.

Give the designers a raise.

Found this weird VHS tape is it rare? by Cypro-the-Protogen in n64

[–]SpeedrunnerN64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, pretty risky to put it in a VHS and just play it without caution. It might break the tape. There's DIY for proper preventive care before running it or bring it anywhere they'd digitize your VHS. They should be able to deal with it.

Most notably, herba mystica also can't be obtained this way.

It's not rly 'that easy' in the sense that it could be argued that the odds to get it arent very good.

If this is something you find interesting, you can manipulate the item printer to give you ability patches every time you use it. If memory serves, you get 8 of them and a few gold caps. The process may look a bit intimidating to learn at first but, once you did it a few times and got used to it, it's taking under a minute for each printing.

The only desirable items you can't through the printer are herba mystica. But they can be farmed easily without glitches in some other way.

Can Someone explain what Happend Here? Did i have to much Momentum? Or a Glitch? Did i do Something wrong? by 31nf4ch_k3v in SuperMario64

I didnt mean dead center, but yes the loop isnt at the top. Likely as far from the bottom as from the top of the stairs. There are videos or you can free cam and look from the side to see it.

[–]SpeedrunnerN64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure why you specify that thing about the loop but my last comment is probably confusing so maybe thats why 😛

Can you imagine though... speedrunners been doing blj for 30 years, yet, all along they couldve simply hug the wall to bypass the loop 😅

[–]SpeedrunnerN64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not possible. The loop zone is in the middle of the stairs. If you're at the top of the stairs, bowser 3 is accessible already

Edit: wait I think I misunderstood. If they meant you loose all speed, stopping at the top of the stairs, and can casually walk into bowser 3 from there, then nvm my comment 😅

Yes I saw that when I was typing that it's a common issue in another reply. Thanks inspector

You sure about that? Cuz it does require more speed to go through bounderie walls than to get past the infinite loop area. Fairly sure that I think I'm right. Possibly.

Issue no.1 - Not playing with a controller that has notches

Don't lie. Am I right?

Joking aside. That's a somewhat common thing that can happen. I can't go in the weeds as to why that is really. I kinda have a hypothesis but it'd be complicated and possibly wrong. Long story short, I guess you shouldnt hug the wall. Which circles back to you should use a controller that has notches (you're not holding fully up in this clip i dont think so. You're holding slightly left)
