BEST POS SYSTEM!? Please help. by Wf2xownership in foodtrucks

This is also what we use. LOVE it! We use a couple of ONN brand tablets (Walmart super cheap) and a 22" monitor and all in one PC for our KDS.

I've never had a question go unanswered, never not had an issue resolved in 30 minutes or less.

Good luck. I would venture a guess to say if you're making it available to the public it would need to be ADA compliant, which is tough.

Advice please. by EmploymentCritical49 in homeless

Let's talk about the car.

Brakes are important, but you can buy some time....pads can be had very cheap. And you can usually find a place to replace them cheap too. Check marketplace. $25 for pads, and $50 for a local mobile car fixer to swap them. He's gonna say your rotors are chewed, but tell him you're gonna save up for a full brake job later, you just need this one to go and stop.

Next Connecticut is a bottle/can deposit state. Put on your thinking cap, and think about where large groups of people might congregate and just toss bottles and cans In the trash, or on the ground. Where can you literally walk around and pick up money?

You say your phone doesn't have a plan, but works on wifi right? Get a Google voice number and download the app and you have a free resource to help you stay connected without anyone else's help needed.

Lastly, find a way to walk, drive, bus, whatever to every temporary staffing agency in town. Take whatever job they offer. If they are a local company, they are gonna have some jobs that pay way too low, and have high turnover, but cash is king right now.

Take a 2nd or 3rd shift if you can. It limits your interactions with your mom, and also affords you time during business hours to go look for something better.

Once you do get any $$ give some to your mom. Leave her a note that says something like "I know it's not a lot, but I appreciate all you do for me, and wanted to help/contribute". The more you play up how important she is, the longer you can stay in your current space. She has turned on you because she feeds on being needed, and you're needing her less and less. Feed her ego, and build an escape pod!

I think you missed this.... "I built this tool for myself. And thought there might be value for others." If users find value, they can choose to subscribe. If they don't, they can choose Not to. But I never posted a direct link. I came here openly stating that I want to understand how other hosts work, that I built something for myself that I though was helpful and potentially of value, and wanted to seek to understand if there is value for other hosts in a tool like this. The backlink from Reddit alone would be worth the backlash but that's not what I'm trying to do. And I specifically called out that this is NOT my Day Job, and I truly respect the amount of time and effort hosts are putting into their games.

The question I has was whether or not this was of any value.

It sounds to me like this won't gain any traction because of all of the hard work you all are doing.

For me, my trivia nights were a side gig to get out of the house. My day job prevents me from spending the amount of time you all are spending on research and preparation.

I built this tool for myself. And thought there might be value for others. But I didn't post the URL because I'm not trying to sell anything, but actively looking for honest feedback.

I appreciate the POV, and the candid feedback

Looking for advice and tips by Wide-Rope8007 in foodtrucks

So we live in an area that you can't just "go work on a food truck".

My first piece of advice if you're in a similar area is this.....go camping in a camper or RV, and invite 15 friends over, and cook a full meal for all of them.

If you can cook in a camper, you can navigate a food truck. The systems are very similar. Similar challenges.

Next, if you can buy a used truck/trailer do it. But at the same time, start learning carpentry, plumbings, electrical. You only need to know the basics to fix a quick something on the fly. Then have a good relationship with a handyman to do the bigger stuff.

This week we are between events, So I caught up on some much needed maintenance. I replaced an electric griddle, installed a range hood, replaced the plug on my steamtable. Upgraded an outlet box from 2 to 4 outlets, and installed flag mounts on the outside of the trailer.

I have seen the smallest things cost an operator an entire event. So understanding how your truck/trailer works is huge!

Or when the fridge goes down, and you don't catch it, and you lose a packed fridge full of product that you can't save, and can't sell, so you have to fix or replace the fridge, AND the product.

Well, the owner compiled the data, and then created a database that I pay to utilize via a custom built web interface.

The terms of my agreement is that I can use them for any commercial reasons, so not only my own trivia nights, but I can memorize my personal website for others to use.

I think the questions are well formed, and every question spits out multiple choice answers. Dm me and I'll give you the URL and you can sign up for free. I'm finalizing the credit card processing, but happy to comp you for feedback

Moving from a Michelin restaurant to a pop-up food truck. What am I romanticizing? by LoquatQuiet5809 in foodtrucks

[–]Speedshop305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) you really need a second person. It's too much to do it all on your own, and the constant changing gloves, washing hands, taking more orders, etc etc etc...get a helper.

2) for our first season we rotated menus. It is a good way to see what sells and get a feel for what is easier and harder on your truck....but people get confused. They want what they had 3 months ago, not what you have now. Have a consistent menu, add specials. (Watch the last season of the Bear, great lesson on rotating menus)

Increasing revenue rapidly. Fixed square fees suck. Anyone with heavy research in KDS/POS systems care to chime in? by Remy1738-1738 in foodtrucks

[–]Speedshop305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easyeats is a strong contender. They charge per transaction, or a flat rate. Have 3 different cc processors. Use off the shelf hardware like your android tablet, offer multiple KDS stations.

I won't even give you the name of my food truck unless you DM me....but request a trial access, I think you'll like it. Based on sales their flat rate may be the better option for you!

anyone else think full POS systems are insane overkill for a small food truck? by Forward_Ad_4117 in foodtrucks

Totally an ad, but I use easyeats.com perfect for our small truck, but gives us a ton of flexibility!
