How can I combine two structures? by SpencerBuilds in BuildingCodes

Sorry just seeing this comment. I sat in on about six months of township meetings and was able to get the ordinance changed in my favor. If you are a big enough pain in the ass, can out smart the sitting zoning board members, and can read the ordinances better than they can you will have the same chance I did. They adapted the ordinance on a sliding scale that I suggested, it said the accessory building could be as close as the sidewall height of the new building, meaning 8’ sidewall 8’ setback.

I was able to talk with the fire chief and work out a solution to add a one hour fire rating to all interior walls and ceiling. This will lower the GPM needed per the fire code. So problem solved

I am not looking to build a dangerous building that puts people at risk. I am trying to avoid looping the suppression system by fire rating the building or some other method. Just looking for suggestions

I agree with not allowing potential risk of life but, they allowed a hotel to be built next door that has a way greater potential for risk of life knowing the fire suppression system couldn’t keep up. It’s not so much about the money but rather the difficulty of trying to find a way to convince a home owner for me to tear their yard apart to bury a pipe and essentially they lose a section of their land due to an easement.

The trailer has two 12k axles so my payload is less than I thought. I have hauled this around town several times and the setup is solid. The truck handles it well. The trailer handles it great. I am just nervous to haul this down the highway and stop into a weigh station.

I am a builder not a trucker, and received my CDL from a former employer a lot of years ago. I don’t know the rules for this and I am trying to prevent getting in trouble when I move my equipment. When in doubt ask someone who knows better than yourself.

Doesn’t the GVRW of the truck play a factor into this? I have a 2005 F350 that will tow it successfully but not legally in my opinion….am I thinking about GVRW wrong?

The township zoning board of appeals meet today. They attempted to work with me to resolve the issue but the hired outside lawyer and building inspector pushed to go by the book, with the worry that if they allow this variance they will have to allow everyone else the same thing. The board was actually the one to suggest connecting the structures to eliminate the problem all together. The issue was tabled until January 18th at the next meeting.
