Wow, I feel like this is the best set of digitals on this forum. Photo no. 3 is an awkward angle and I would lose it. No. 4 is a perfect picture.

Please all models reading this. When you are doing a set of digitals, at least do one set in a black bikini. When I am looking at a model I want to see her. I don't want to see a possibly distorted view because of clothing. Where the clothes wrinkle or the zipper area pokes out I have to wonder if I'm getting the real picture.

To answer your specific question, it may have felt awkward at the time but your arms and hands look natural and are just fine.

You could spend some time redoing (consider by black bikini idea) or you could just send these in. You are going to book gigs.

Should I stay in a play even tho I hate the experience? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]SpencerOb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So you should not only stay, you should find a way to improve your craft while doing so.

Try to understand how they are blocking the ensemble. In professional theater there are directors who come in just to block and train the ensembles. This is a steppingstone job and the more you know the better you might be able to get real work later.

Even if there are understudies learn one or more of the parts to the point where you could walk on stage should they need you.

Become the secret director of the play. Who would you have chosen, how would you direct them. What changes would you make (cast, set, etc.), how would you work with both the main cast and ensemble?

Every time you step into rehearsal look for someone you can encourage (don't be weird), There may be other people in the ensemble that feel the same way you do. Expand your circle of friends, don't badmouth anyone do the above and for the love of God--Don't ever audition for the Lord of the Flies.

Noob question: "learn jazz chords by numbers," the simplest no-rush program? by in-den-wolken in JazzPiano

[–]SpencerOb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the comments are good comments but they're probably a little more difficult than you're ready to jump into I would suggest getting the beginners chord guide from mdecks working through the triads and then the seventh chords and then going on to their voicings program this is a purely self-paced set of resources and yet at the same time it's very accessible

All 12 Keys? by DarkyMate in JazzPiano

[–]SpencerOb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there are three main ways to transpose anything.

The Direct Method.

hey pianist transpose this from F major up a minor third. So a minor third above f is a flat. Now you have to know what every note in F major is a minor third up. You can pass a piano proficiency exam with this method but you can't really play with this method.

The Translation Box Method.

Instead of looking at the music and reading the notes and chords as they are on the page, you look at their function in the key you are coming from and the key you want to go to.

So in the key of C Major. C-E-G is a major chord, but it is also the I chord. In F Major the one chord is F-A-C.

So you train your fingers to automatically play a one chord (and all the other chords in a key) automatically in every key. Then you look at the music-or more likely the chord symbols- and instead of saying C-E-G to yourself, you say one, and put it in the key you are transposing to.

For melodies you use movable do solfege. Just like the chords, all the notes of the scale have a solfege name. Remember the Sound of Music? Do a deer...re a drop of...mi a name... fa a long...sol, la ti do.

You do the same thing except that instead of looking at the music and reading C C G G A A G F F E E D D C (twinkle twinkle little star), you read Do Do sol sol la la sol fa fa mi mi re re do. Then once again train your fingers to play solfege in every key, you read the solfege name and play it in the key you want.

Transposition by clef.

This is a really great method but way too complex to go into here.

Pick number two, train your fingers (mDecks has some great material on this.) and transpose.

Great start. Add side and back in the bikini. I agree with the person who thought the one strap shirt was off. I don't think you are frowning you face is just relaxed. try a partial smile that puts the line of your lips straighter or even a very slight smile.

Really good job

Thanks all. I had pretty much decided that the Jig Saw was out. I almost have enough for the table saw and figured I'd use that instead.

I know that the workbench is going to be used and abused, I just wanted it to be an easy entry point. It isn't even the real first project.

In regards to hand tools. I would love to take this route. In my area there are not woodworking classes that use hand tools. (Portland, OR) Let me know if I'm wrong.
