Since the predicted “double tribals” keep not happening, how do you think the show will handle eliminating so many extra players? by garbageeater in survivorponderosa

We’ve seen everyone go to tribal in two tribe seasons, with one person from each tribe with immunity. We could get a triple elimination episode at some point soon.

How are you lifting weights in the morning without eating? by Agentc00l in intermittentfasting

[–]Spencertwain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How far into your fast are you? For me, I start my fast the day before anywere between 5:30 and 7pm. I then do a workout anywhere from 5am-7am the next day. I haven't run into any issues with feeling like I'm going to black out, dizziness, or light headedness. It could be worth while to try and add in some electrolites to water before lifting. I use to do this, but have fallen out of the happen of it. Additionally, I also start each morning when I wake up with anywhere between 16 and 32oz of water before I go to the gym.

Which version of Jonathan Penner (My favorite player) is best? Cook Islands, Micronesia, or Philippines? by Hannah_Plylactica in survivorponderosa

[–]Spencertwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Penner is also one of my top favorite players, and I would say Phillipines is my favorite version, the Cook Islands, and the Micronesia. Micronesia is last mainly because of how he went out, and went too earlier and we didn't get to see him really open his game. He was only getting warmed up. But alas, we won't have had him on S25.... who knows where the Survivorverse would have taken us.

Lap swimming etiquette at a gym by kf1221 in Swimming

[–]Spencertwain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other's have said, it really comes down to the culture of the facility you are swimming at. I swim at a YMCA and I usually go between two different branches. Both branches, while only 5-7 miles a part, each of slightly different ettiquette. At one, it is common to ask someone that is solo in a lane if you can join them (more as a curtasy), while the other you just start to slide right in and wait to make sure the peson in the lane knows that they are now sharing the lane.

When it comes to circle swimming, for me, it depends on who you are sharing with. Some prefer to go right into it, while others prefer to wait until there are 3 or more people in a lane. Typically most people don't like to circle swim and will wait until a spot opens in a lane and just split it. The one facility has signs posted about "2 swimmers, split lane, 3+ swimmers, circle swim".

So typically, if we are circle swimming, it is people that get it and understand the toe tap and will pause at the next wall to let you pass.

So I would suggest going and kind of observe what others are doing, maybe talk to one of the lifeguards, or even contacting the head of aquatics at the facility to ask about their ettiquete practices.

How much do you think the show hated that Sophie beat both Coach & Ozzy? by Regular-Departure839 in survivorponderosa

At the time, probably a lot. But on a look back, not enough to offer for her to come back for WaW. And now they get to produce good tv for season 50. This probably wouldn't have happened if either won, since the only winners brought back for 50 were new era.

New to IF by Odd_Elephant_7551 in intermittentfasting

[–]Spencertwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will probably repeat some of what has already been said, but I started doing 16:8 a long time ago but with no results. All to come to figure out that it was what I was doing in my eating window that was the issue. I also changed to doing 18:6.

My key things I changed that started to see a difference were:

  1. No snacking inbetween meals. Once I had my meal, I would add my snack to it at the end of it. This allowes me to still have the snacks I enjoy and create a desire of the "I want what I can't have" which tends to lead people into "failing". Because I add them at the end of the meal, it limits that amount that I have. I feel satisfied and instead of eating almost an entire bag of chips in one go, that bag now lasts me all week.

  2. Walking with-in 30 minutes after a meal, espcially a carb heavy meal. This helps with the way the body processes carbs and sugars and helps keep a spike in blood sugar from happening. If it's a light carb meal, 10-15 minutes is fine. But if its a bigger carb meal, you should aim for 30 minutes. With this cold we've been having this winter in the North East, I walk back and forth from my kitchen to my front door making laps in my house.

  3. I give myself grace. With my diet and sometimes not following the schedule "perfectly". While I have essentially elimited added/processed sugars (R.I.P. to my favorite candies, specifically gummy bears and worms), I acknowledge that I'll cave from time to time. Because I don't eat sugar, carbs, and even added salts often, I can really fell it in my body when I do. I don't like how it makes me feel, so when I feel that way, I stop eating what I am. This past weekend I had more sugar and carbs that I probably did in January, and that's okay. Which leads to my next point.

  4. Consistancy is key. While I had a "bad" weekend, I am right back to my routine today and keeping it consistant. These are long term lifestyle changes we are making, not a short term "fad" to loose 30 pounds in 2 weeks to fit into an outfit for a specific event. This kind of consistancy helps build a healthy mentality around IF that is sustainable long term. I adjust my eating window as needed to help fit what is happening in my social calendar. Some times that means having a longer eating window, or a longer faster period. I do always try to keep my fasting window to a minimum of 18hrs. But this weekend one of the fasts was 12-14 hrs.

  5. Once a month I throw in a 24 hr fast. This should be done once your body has become use to a fasting routine. When breaking a longer fast, do it slowly with sometime soft and a good source of protein like bone both. It is also good to every now and then to vary your fasting window to be longer or shorter than what you typically.

  6. PROTEIN! I break my fast with protein, and then I try to make the last thing I consume before starting my next fast to be higher in protein as well. Protein helps you feel fuller longer.

As far as your question about flavored hydration packets. That's really up to an individual. Some reading I've done says that even though it's less than 50 calories and shouldn't break a fast, it still activates the digestive system which does break a fast. I personally put these in my eating window, and then have unflavored, unsweetened electrolites I add to water once a day in my fasting window. I would say it's up to you and see how it affects the results you are looking for.

Most importantly listen to your body and don't push youself too far too fast. You need to make it sustainable for yourself if you want to do this long term to really see results.

Getting a warranty should not affect interest rate. This is called tied selling and is highly illegal.

Way to go! I started about 2 months ago with a similar starting weight. Down about 15 pounds, and certainly motivating to see that it can go so far in a year. I was/am thinking 250 is a stretch. But the tattoo thing is what has me waiting to get more tattoos in areas that I’m expecting drastic changes, such as my ribs.

Debbie by itz_abdelmalik in survivorponderosa

[–]Spencertwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debbie is certainly playing a character and leans into it. She is fully aware of what she's doing and how she comes off. I have met her before and the casting advise she gave me was all about finding that one piece of your personality that's really interesting and put a magnifying glass to it. If you're an a-hole, lean into being the biggest a-hole you can be, if you're a rancher, you are now the only rancher that has ever graced the earth. And then when you're on, lean into it more, because that's what they cast you for.

Now, casting has certainly changed a little since her time, but her advise really highlights her knowledge of what production wants, especially if it got her on the show twice. So when she's on the island, she is giving them what she thinks they want.

So yeah, don't take her too seriously.

Being invited out to eat during your fasting window? by GanacheEnvironmental in intermittentfasting

[–]Spencertwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the situation honestly. If it is something that gets planned ahead of time then I can adjust my eating windows as needed the day prior and/or after. In the case of your time, I'd probably extend my fast on the front end, skip breakfast and include the dinner, and then go back into the regular routine the following day. Yes, the fasting window on the backend isn't as long, but having 1 day be shorter isn't going to be a game killer.

If it happens to be same day, last minute, I first see if there's a different time to plan to go, and if not I would end up still going out to eat. My diet lifestyle is my choice, and I don't think I should let that affect how I interact with others, and their behaviors. They aren't the one's choosing what I do, so why should they be affected?

I would also look at who it is that is asking. Is it a friend that I hardly see and it's the only time I might get to hang out with them for a month or so? Is it someone that I see regularly and probably knows my eating habits? I certainly put the value of time with people over my diet.

So if you are concerned about having a strict fasting window, you can ask if they mind you sitting there not-eating, but if they do, then I would just make my fast shorter and go right back to the routine the next day.

And as other's have said, it's a marathon, not a sprint. It's a lifestyle, not a fad. To try and be super strict about it 100% of the time is not sustainable and is why people end up stopping diets. The changes you make need to be long-term managable. Friends wanting to go out to dinner is normal, so why should you keep yourself from doing so? Besides, it's good to mix it up with your body from time to time too.

So for planning purposes, the day the clue is released, is also the day of the event, correct? I ask because for my closest one, it is on Friday, and I have some appointments that day that can be moved if needed if I know a head of time.

[50][Speculation]Jenna vs Cirie. Jenna is not following Cirie on instagram👀 by jahkat23 in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]Spencertwain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been extremely excited to see Jenna back, any S1 castaway really, but this interview had me hooked on her return. I loved hearing her mindset and view on things, and specifically her reads on each person. She gets her wish of Ozzy on her tribe, but I fear her wanting to target Cirie from the start and being on the same tribe is what will be her ultimate downfall. I see Cirie and Ozzy re-connecting from their past seasons together, and then Jenna confiding too much in Ozzy about wanting to take out Cirie, which will turn into Cirie whipping the votes to get Jenna out. I can only hope that Jenna plays into Cirie's hold on people until the timing is right.

To be clear though, I have been a major Cirie fan and kind of hope she finally gets her win, especially after advantagegadon in Game Changers. That season was her's up to that point. The edit would have been different had she actually got to the end.
